Over BeamNG.drive
BeamNG.drive is een sandbox voertuigsimulatiespel ontwikkeld en uitgegeven door BeamNG GmbH, een onafhankelijk studio gevestigd in Bremen, Duitsland. Het is beschikbaar op Steam Early Access sinds 29 mei 2015 en ontvangt regelmatig updates. Een PlayStation 5 versie is gepland voor eind juni 2026.
Het spel is gebouwd rond een eigen soft-body physics engine die elk onderdeel van een voertuig in real-time simuleert. Chassis, ophangingen, carrosserie, motorsteunen en individuele onderdelen reageren fysiek op krachten in plaats van dat ze gescripte animaties volgen. Het resultaat is voertuiggedrag en crashdeformatie die continu schalen met de betrokken krachten, van een kleine kras op de bumper tot een botsing met hoge snelheid die de carrosserie geleidelijk om elk obstakel vouwt.
De voertuigenlijst dekt een breed scala aan types, waaronder sedans, vrachtwagens, bestelwagens, bussen, sportwagens en off-road voertuigen, elk met unieke rijgedrag en configureerbare onderdelen. Er zijn meer dan twintig kaarten beschikbaar, variërend van compacte testomgevingen en proeflocaties tot grote open-wereld locaties gebaseerd op het Italiaanse platteland, de Amerikaanse kustlijn en verschillende stedelijke en industriële omgevingen.
Game-modus omvat Free Roam, waar spelers zonder beperkingen kunnen rijden en verkennen. Scenario's bieden gestructureerde uitdagingen, waaronder races, achtervolgingen, stunts en precisierij taken.
