Ash vs Evil Dead is a brand-new character for Dead by Daylight. Purchasing the Ash vs Evil Dead DLC will unlock a new survivor, Ash Williams and an exclusive item for him.
Ashley J. Williams, the legendary hero from the Ash vs Evil Dead horror series, has entered the realm of the Entity. While this time the chainsaw is not his to wield, Ash knows how to escape gruesome death. Wander through The Fog as Ash and escape evil once more.
During a weekend at a cabin, Ash uncovered the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (Book of the Dead) and awoke something dark in the woods. Evil possessed his friends, whom he was forced to kill, and his right hand, which he sawed off. For the next thirty years, Ash ran from his past, working at a Value Stop department store and seducing women in dive bars. But he screwed up one night when he read from the Necronomicon to impress a woman. Evil found him once more. After a terrible fight, Ash, drawing his last breath, was taken by the Knights of Sumeria and transported into the future. But after his deal with a demon went South, Ash found himself in the realm of the Entity, without shotgun or chainsaw.

Elke match plaatst één speler als de Killer en tot vier spelers als Survivors op een proceduraal gegenereerde map. Survivors moeten vijf generators repareren die verspreid over de map staan om de uitgangspoorten van stroom te voorzien en te ontsnappen voordat ze gepakt worden. De Killer moet elke Survivor vinden, neerhalen en ophangen voor een offer aan de Entity, de oude kracht die het rijk beheert waar alle matches plaatsvinden.
Elke Killer heeft een unieke kracht die bepaalt hoe ze jagen. De Trapper legt valstrikken over de map. De Nurse faseert door obstakels en teleporteert korte afstanden. De Hillbilly gebruikt een kettingzaag voor snelle verplaatsing en directe neerslagen bij contact. Elke Survivor heeft een unieke persoonlijke perk naast een loadout-systeem waarmee spelers aangepaste perk sets kunnen bouwen van diegene die zijn ontgrendeld in de volledige roster.
De roster van het spel is continu gegroeid door regelmatige Chapter releases, waarbij elke release meestal een nieuwe Killer, een nieuwe Survivor en soms een nieuwe map toevoegt. Gelicentieerde chapters hebben personages geïntroduceerd uit franchises zoals Halloween, Resident Evil, Stranger Things, Silent Hill, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien en vele anderen.
