Over High on Life
High on Life is een komische first-person shooter met actie-avontuur en Metroidvania-elementen, ontwikkeld en uitgegeven door Squanch Games. Het werd uitgebracht op 13 december 2022 voor PC via Steam, Xbox One en Xbox Series X/S, met PlayStation 4 en PlayStation 5 versies die op 22 juli 2023 volgden.
Het spel volgt een recent afgestudeerde van de middelbare school zonder richting, wiens leven op zijn kop wordt gezet wanneer het G3 Cartel, een buitenaardse misdaadorganisatie, de aarde binnenvalt met plannen om de mensheid als drug te verwerken. Een pratende alien gun genaamd Kenny overtuigt de speler om de strijd terug te nemen, en het hoofdverhaal draait om het worden van een bounty hunter die de leiding van het cartel één voor één uitschakelt.
De gevechten zijn opgebouwd rond de Gatlians, vijf sentiente alien guns die constant door het spel heen praten. Elke Gatlian heeft een unieke persoonlijkheid en hun eigen commentaar op gebeurtenissen, naast unieke vuurmodes. Primaire vuur dekt de belangrijkste aanval van het wapen, terwijl alternatieve en speciale modi extra opties per gun bieden. Knifey, een sentient melee wapen, kan een touw uitsteken om tussen platforms te slingeren en aan ziplines te hechten, en fungeert als het primaire traversale hulpmiddel in de omgevingen van het spel.
De wereld gebruikt een Metroidvania-achtige ontwerpstijl: nieuwe wapens en vaardigheden openen geleidelijk toegang tot eerder geblokkeerde gebieden, en terugkeren naar eerdere locaties met nieuwe tools onthult verborgen items en optionele content. Elk bounty doel heeft zijn eigen unieke schuilplaats met een boss encounter die voortbouwt op de mechanics die tot dat moment zijn verworven.
Een DLC-uitbreiding genaamd High on Knife is apart beschikbaar, met de focus op Knifey in een standalone verhaalavontuur. Een vervolg, High on Life 2, werd uitgebracht op 13 februari 2026.
