De PC-versie kwam met aanzienlijke technische verbeteringen, waaronder ontgrendelde framerates, DLSS 4 en FSR 3 ondersteuning, hogere resolutie texturen, ultrawide en super-ultrawide monitor ondersteuning tot 32:9, en volledige DualSense controller ondersteuning met haptische feedback en adaptieve triggers. Binnen twee dagen na de lancering op PC piekte het spel op 188.576 gelijktijdige spelers op Steam — het hoogste aantal ooit geregistreerd voor een single-player Sony-uitgegeven titel op het platform.
Spelers nemen de rol aan van Eve, een lid van het 7e Airborne Squad dat vanuit een orbitale kolonie naar een post-apocalyptische Aarde is gestuurd, overspoeld door de Naytiba, een kracht van groteske en krachtige wezens die de mensheid van de planeet heeft verdreven. De missie begint als een eenvoudige heroveringsinspanningen, maar evolueert al snel in iets veel complexers terwijl Eve de waarheid over de Naytiba, de val van de Aarde en haar eigen oorsprong ontdekt. Gevechten zijn het middelpunt van het spel — een snel, precisie-gedreven systeem dat draait om perfect getimede parries, vloeiende combo-ketens en een groeiend arsenaal aan vaardigheden en wapenupgrades die meesterschap belonen zonder het vanaf het begin te eisen. Het omgevingsontwerp leidt spelers door een verscheidenheid aan opvallend contrasterende zones, van de vervallen stad Xion tot de uitgestrekte Wasteland en de Grote Woestijn daarbuiten, elk met zijn eigen sfeer en verhaal.
