Blox Fruits Races: Everything to Know

Blox Fruits assigns you a race the moment you first join the game, and that single assignment shapes your passives, abilities, and combat options from there. With seven races available and each one evolving through four stages, the system runs much deeper than most players realize at the start.
Knowing what each race actually offers, how to obtain the rarer ones, and when it makes sense to reroll can have a real impact on your performance across all three seas. In this article, we'll explore every race in Blox Fruits, what each one brings to the table, how to unlock and upgrade them, and which ones suit different playstyles.

All Races in Blox Fruits
Blox Fruits has seven races, each with its own passive abilities, strengths, and upgrade potential. Four of them (Human, Rabbit, Shark, and Angel) are the ones you can receive when first joining or through rerolls. The other three (Ghoul, Cyborg, and Draco) are exclusive races that require completing specific quests to unlock.
Race | Specialization | Key Strength |
|---|---|---|
Human | Damage output | Deals more damage the lower your HP gets through the Last Resort ability |
Rabbit | Speed and mobility | Enhanced dash and speed with the Agility ability at higher versions |
Shark | Defense and tankiness | Reduces incoming damage significantly; Water Body at V3 cuts damage by ~70% |
Angel | Healing and air combat | Heavenly Blood at V3 reduces damage, heals ~14% HP, and regenerates energy |
Ghoul | Life-steal | Recovers health when dealing damage with fighting styles; gets stronger at night |
Cyborg | Defense and energy | Energy Core at V3 reduces damage, negates Instinct, and deals AoE damage to nearby enemies |
Draco | Damage and resistance | Debuffs enemies' damage and speed via Primordial Reign, one of the hardest races to obtain |
The race you end up with changes how you approach fights, what build you run, and how you perform across different content types. Each race also has four upgrade stages that significantly expand its capabilities.
How to Get and Change Your Race

When you join Blox Fruits for the first time, the game randomly assigns you one of the four standard races. If you want to switch, there are a few ways to do it.
Visit Tort at the Café in the Second Sea or at the Mansion in the Third Sea and pay 3,000 Fragments for a random reroll
Buy a Race Re-roll from the Products Shop for 90 Robux
Redeem active Blox Fruits codes, which occasionally include free race rerolls
Buy a Race Re-roll from the Event Shop during seasonal events such as the Christmas, Halloween, and Valentines events
Rerolling only gives you Human, Rabbit, Shark, or Angel. Ghoul, Cyborg, and Draco cannot be obtained through standard rerolls.
To get the Ghoul race, you need to be in the Second Sea and collect 100 Ectoplasm along with a Hellfire Torch, which has a 1–2% drop chance from the Cursed Captain. Bring both items to the Experimic NPC on the Cursed Ship to complete the unlock.
For Cyborg, you need to complete the Cyborg puzzle in the Second Sea, which involves obtaining a Fist of Darkness, a Core Brain (5% drop from the Order Raid Boss), and paying 2,500 Fragments to a secret NPC in the Secret Laboratory.
For Draco, you need to reach the Third Sea, complete all eight Dojo Trainer quests to earn the Dojo Belt (Black), then talk to the Dragon Wizard at the Dragon Dojo on Hydra Island to obtain Dragon Tether. Next, complete the Volcano Event on Prehistoric Island to collect a Dragon Egg, and bring it back to the Dragon Wizard to unlock the Draco race.
If you've already unlocked Ghoul or Draco and switch away from them, you can return to either for free by talking to their respective NPCs again. Cyborg is the exception — switching back to it costs 2,500 Fragments each time.

Race Versions Explained (V1 to V4)

Every race in Blox Fruits has four upgrade stages, referred to as V1 through V4. V1 is the base form every player starts with. The real power comes as you progress through the later versions.
V2
V2 becomes available once you reach the Second Sea. You need to be at least level 850 and have completed the Colosseum Quest. From there, talk to the Alchemist in the Green Zone to start the Flower Quest. This requires collecting three flowers: a Red one available during the day, a Blue one available at night, and a Yellow one dropped by NPCs. Staying in the same server until all three are collected is important since leaving resets your progress. Once done, pay 500,000 Beli to unlock V2.
V3
V3 is also available in the Second Sea and requires V2 to be already unlocked. Talk to Arowe, who assigns a quest based on your current race. Human players must defeat Diamond, Jeremy, and Orbitus. Rabbit players must collect 30 chests. Shark players must kill a naturally spawned Sea Beast. Angel players must kill another player using the Angel race. Ghoul players must kill five players without dying. Cyborg players must show a physical fruit to Arowe. Completing the quest and paying 2,000,000 Beli unlocks V3 along with a unique race ability.
V4
V4, also called Race Awakening, is Third Sea content and the most demanding upgrade in the game. To unlock it, you need:
Access to the Third Sea
Race V3
Completed Sealed King quest
Mirror Fractal item
Have already defeated Rip_Indra
Mirage Island can spawn at any time (day or night), and a full moon is no longer required. Once on the island at night, resonate your Mirror Fractal with the moon using your V3 ability, collect the Blue Gear, then access the Race Awakening trials inside the Temple of Time. V4 grants race-specific abilities tied to an Awakening gauge that fills as you deal or receive damage in combat. Once full, you can activate a transformation that provides a 10% boost to damage, speed, and healing.
Best Race in Blox Fruits
No race is objectively the best across all situations. The right pick depends on your playstyle and what stage of the game you're at.
For PvP, Cyborg is widely considered the strongest option at V4. Its Energy Core ability disrupts enemy Instinct dodges and deals area damage, making it particularly effective against groups. Rabbit is an option if you prioritize mobility, its Agility ability hits 4x speed, but it's considered a mediocre race overall since it lacks damage, defense, and healing compared to other choices.
For PvE and grinding, Shark is the most reliable option because of its damage reduction. Its Water Body ability at V3 reduces incoming damage by ~70%, which makes boss fights and Sea Beast encounters significantly more manageable. Angel is a strong alternative for longer sessions since Heavenly Blood provides healing and energy regeneration without needing to stop between fights.
Draco is worth going for if you play aggressively, its Primordial Reign ability debuffs enemies by reducing their damage and speed, making it effective in group PvP and team fights. Ghoul suits fighting-style builds well since its life-steal passive keeps your HP up during extended fights.
For newer players, Human or Shark are the safest starting points. Human scales well and rewards aggressive low-HP play, while Shark gives you consistent survivability as you work through tougher content.
Final Words
Blox Fruits has seven races, each with distinct strengths that affect how you play across all three seas. The standard four are easy to obtain through rerolls, while Ghoul, Cyborg, and Draco each require dedicated effort to unlock. Upgrading your race through V2 to V4 is where the real impact shows, so prioritizing that progression is worth your time regardless of which race you run.
