Fortnite Winterfest 2026: Everything to Know
Fortnite Winterfest is the game's annual winter holiday event that typically runs from mid-December into early January. Epic Games adds festive content to Battle Royale and other modes, decorates the map with holiday decorations, and rewards players with free daily presents throughout the event period.
While Winterfest offers free cosmetics each year, many of these items don’t return once the event ends. This is why some players look into Fortnite accounts with skins that include previous Winterfest rewards.
The seasonal celebration has become a staple of Fortnite's content calendar since its first appearance. In this article, we'll break down everything you need to know about Winterfest in Fortnite, including previous event dates, the types of rewards available, potential collaborations, and what to expect from this year's celebration.
Fortnite Winterfest 2026 Summary
Leaks from HYPEX and ShiinaBR point to Winterfest 2026 starting on December 17, 2026, and Epic Games has not confirmed the date.
The same leaks place the Chapter 8 launch on December 5, 2026, so Winterfest should arrive with the first big update of the new chapter.
Fortnite has run eight winter events, and each one started between December 13 and December 20.
Recent Winterfests handed out 14 free rewards, opened one present per day from the Winterfest Cabin.
Winterfest 2025 gave away two free skins, Glacial Dummy and Cheeks, alongside instruments, gliders, and other cosmetics.

The event ran as 14 Days of Fortnite and Operation: Snowdown in its early years before settling on the Winterfest name. Winterfest 2025 leaned on big collaborations, with Sabrina Carpenter and Harry Potter both featured on the holiday promo art.
When is Fortnite Winterfest 2026?
Fortnite Winterfest 2026 is expected to start on Thursday, December 17, 2026, based on dataminer schedules from HYPEX and ShiinaBR. Both leaks agree on that date, though Epic Games has not announced the event.
The same schedules list December 5, 2026 for Chapter 8 Season 1, which puts Winterfest roughly two weeks into the new chapter. Past events ran close to three weeks, so Winterfest 2026 should wrap up in the first week of January 2027.
Winterfest 2026 Rewards
Winterfest rewards come from the Winterfest Cabin, where players open one present per day during the event. Winterfest 2025 held 14 rewards, and presents don't stack, so missed days shrink the total haul.
Past Winterfest presents have covered these cosmetic types.
Free outfits: recent events gave away two skins, and the second one usually needs every present opened before the event ends.
Instruments and Jam Tracks: Festival gear joined the cabin in recent years, including the Just A Holiday in Battlewood Jam Track.
Pickaxes, gliders, and back blings: these fill most of the daily slots and match the event's holiday theme.
Emotes, wraps, sprays, and loading screens: smaller items round out the lineup on the remaining days.
Epic Games keeps the Winterfest 2026 reward list hidden until launch, though dataminers often leak items a few days early. Players who log in daily from the first day give themselves the best shot at the full set.
