Memories in Motion: What's New This Season
Memories in Motion is the new Pokemon GO season running from March 3 to June 2, 2026, and it comes with a few changes worth knowing about. Starting this season, evolved Pokemon can appear as Shiny in the wild, as long as they've already had their Shiny debut in Pokemon GO. Shiny odds are also boosted for egg hatches and raid encounters compared to standard wild encounters, and any Shadow Pokemon that has had its Shiny debut can now appear Shiny when rescued from Team GO Rocket.
The season also restructures how events are scheduled. Weekend events now take place on Saturdays, and paid event tickets are being replaced by event GO Passes going forward. Each day of the week also now has its own themed bonus: Sundays double the duration of Incense and Lure Modules, Mondays give 2x GO Points from Pass tasks, Thursdays allow up to 10 GO Battle League sets with up to 4x Stardust from win rewards, and Fridays include two Special Trades with an increased Lucky Trade chance.
A free Special Research story called Pressure Rising is also available starting March 3, rewarding trainers who complete it with an encounter with the Mythical Pokemon Volcanion. It doesn't expire, so you can complete it at your own pace.

Pokemon 30th Anniversary Event
The biggest event in March is the Pokemon 30th Anniversary celebration, running from March 3 to March 9. Throughout the event, Pokemon from the Kanto region appear more frequently in the wild, including Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres in Five-Star Raids, alongside special hat-wearing Pikachu variants. Completing enough GO Pass tasks will earn you an encounter with Mewtwo.
The GO Pass for this event is free and activates automatically on March 3. Trainers who want upgraded rewards and faster progression can upgrade to the GO Pass Deluxe for $7.99, which adds extra Kanto encounters, including the legendary birds and additional bonuses.
From March 7 to March 9, the 30th Anniversary: All Out sub-event brings back nearly every Pokemon that has ever appeared in Pokemon GO, spawning across different biomes based on their natural habitats. Baby Pokemon hatch from 2km Eggs during this window, and Incense may attract Legendary Pokemon. It's a short window, so it's worth planning around if you're chasing anything specific.
Final Words
March 2026 is a packed month for Pokemon GO players. Between the season launch, the 30th Anniversary event, and a steady stream of weekly activities, there's something worth logging in for almost every week. Make sure you don't sleep on the All Out window from March 7–9 — it's the shortest event on the calendar but arguably the most rewarding.
