How to Beat Gigantamax Meowth in Pokemon GO

How to Beat Gigantamax Meowth in Pokemon GO

Gigantamax Meowth is a Tier 6 Max Battle in Pokémon GO, making its debut during the Max Battle Day event on February 15, 2026. As a Normal-type Pokémon, it has only one weakness, Fighting-type moves, which makes your counter selection straightforward, but the battle itself still requires proper coordination and team setup to clear successfully.

Up to 40 trainers can participate in the battle, split into groups of four. Each group needs a clear role split between attackers, defenders, and healers to get through the encounter. It costs 800 Max Particles to enter, and those particles are only consumed if you actually defeat Meowth, so there's no penalty for losing.

In this article, we'll cover the best counters, recommended team compositions, and everything you need to know to beat Gigantamax Meowth in Pokémon GO.

How to Beat Gigantamax Meowth

Gigantamax Meowth is a Normal-type, so it only takes super-effective damage from Fighting-type moves. Your entire team strategy should be built around that. Each group of four trainers should have:

  • 2 attackers (Gigantamax Machamp is your best option)

  • 1 tank(Crowned Shield Zamazenta)

  • 1 healer (Blissey)

Start the battle with a Charger, a Pokémon with a 0.5s Fast Move, to fill the Max Meter as quickly as possible. Once you enter the Dynamax phase, swap to your attacker, use your Max Move, then swap back. Only use Fast Moves throughout the battle. Charged Moves generate the same amount of Max Energy but take much longer to execute, so you're better off spamming Fast Moves the entire time.

During the battle, Meowth uses two types of charged attacks. One hits all active Pokémon and can't be dodged, while the other targets a single Pokémon for double damage. Swipe left or right when you see the warning appear above your Pokémon to dodge it. The defender's Max Guard draws that focused attack away from the rest of the group, so make sure one player in your group has it leveled up.
