What to Know About Wardogs Before You Buy It

Wardogs charges you for every mistake, in cash, so a few things are worth checking about Wardogs before you buy. It's a 100-player, three-team shooter, and Wardogs Early Access opened on Steam on September 10, 2026.

What Kind of Shooter Is Wardogs?

Wardogs is a 100-player king of the hill shooter where three teams fight over 2×2 km control zones inside much larger maps. Launch comes with three of them, Bakurani, Ozeti and Zestafona, all set in the industrial mountains of Eastern Europe.

Everything runs on the cash balance tied to your account. You buy a loadout before each deployment, and if you die without a revive, that gear is gone. Captures, kills, building, healing and transport all pay into the same balance.

Six roles level up separately: Assault, Medic, Recon, Support, Driver and Pilot. In our testing, building fortifications paid better than straight combat.

Friendly fire is on, and proximity voice chat lets nearby enemies hear your callouts. Solo firefights are brutal, though a Steam thread on solo play is packed with lone players who do fine as pilots, builders and medics.

Wardogs Editions, Early Access and Monetization

The Wardogs Steam page lists two versions, and a Wardogs Steam key gets you the same game either way. The Wardogs Supporter Edition adds a cosmetic pack with weapon camos, a vehicle camo, bobbleheads and a scoreboard icon.

Bulkhead expects Early Access to run for around 1–2 years, and the store page says the price will go up at full release. The Early Access notes list more maps, weapons and vehicles for the full version, plus fighter jets, new objective types and deeper progression.

So what do you pay for after launch? Nothing, for now. There's no battle pass, cash and Gold Bars aren't sold for real money, and individual cosmetics can't be bought directly. Gold Bars come from converting surplus in-game cash, and they're what you spend on cosmetics.

We ran into long queues and griefing at launch. Beebom also reports that Bulkhead won't add huge vehicles, maps or new weapon types during Early Access seasons, so the launch content has to carry the game for months.

How Does a Wardogs Season Wipe Work?

A Wardogs season wipe resets your levels and unlocks and converts your banked cash into Gold Bars.

Season 2 starts on October 15, 2026. Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer has said Season 1 lasts about a month and that later seasons could run for different lengths. Season 2 brings a Trait system with role-specific Skill Points earned through XP, a server search by name, and rain.

Cash you sit on at the end of a season only turns into cosmetic currency. I'd rather spend it on gear in the final weeks. And if a fresh reset each season sounds miserable to you, this loop will wear on you fast.

Wardogs System Requirements and Platforms

The Wardogs system requirements on Steam ask for 16 GB of RAM and 50 GB of storage on both tiers, which is modest for a 100-player game.

In our review, the minimum spec held around 60 fps at 1080p, and the recommended spec sat around 70 fps at 1440p.

Team17 and Bulkhead announced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions for 2028 on launch day, with no month attached. Crossplay and cross-progression haven't been announced. Wardogs also runs kernel-level anti-cheat.
