EA Sports FC 27 Archetypes, Masteries, and Amps

Archetypes decide what a Pro does on the pitch in EA Sports FC 27, and building one got a lot less painful this year. Every Archetype is available by default, resets cost nothing at all, and individual attributes can be tuned without tearing a whole build apart.

With that said, two systems sit on top of Archetypes: Masteries, which are permanent, and Amps, which expire after a set number of matches. Mixing the two up costs players real value, since one survives every reset and the other doesn't.

This guide covers what changed with Archetypes in FC 27, how Masteries and Amps work, and where Consumables fit into the picture.

FC 27 Archetypes, Masteries, and Amps Summary

FC 27 Archetypes Masteries and Amps Summary
  • Every Archetype is available by default in FC 27, removing the Clubs Coins, FC Points, and consumable costs FC 26 attached to 12 of the 13

  • Archetype resets cost nothing, and single attributes can be adjusted without wiping a whole build

  • Attribute edits happen in three places: the in-world menu, the Clubhouse, and Clubs or Rush lobbies

  • Masteries grant permanent attribute gains that carry across every build a player uses, and each of the 13 Archetypes raises its own attribute pair

  • Mastering an Archetype fully means levelling the Archetypes that complement it, not just the one

  • Amps split across four tiers in Standard and Signature categories, adding attribute gains, PlayStyles, PlayStyles+ and Perks

  • Players equip three Amps at once, two Standard slots and one Signature slot, and each expires after a set number of matches

  • Consumables add XP outside of matches, with targeted versions feeding one chosen Archetype, and level caps now sit on individual items rather than one shared ceiling

What Are Archetypes in FC 27?

Archetypes in FC 27

An Archetype sets the role your Pro plays on the pitch: how they tackle, pass, shoot or keep goal changes based on which one is active. Each Archetype raises certain attributes and opens up matching PlayStyles.

Twelve of the Thirteen Archetypes in FC 26 were locked behind Clubs Coins, FC Points or consumable items, and switching between them meant paying to reset. FC 27 drops all of that: every Archetype opens from session one, and building a different one costs nothing but time.

All FC 27 Archetype Changes

Three changes cover how Archetype building works in FC 27, and all three point the same thing: less friction, more room to try something new:

  • Every Archetype is available by default: Players get immediate access to all thirteen from the first session, with no currency or consumable required.

  • Resets cost neither Coins nor consumables: Rebuilding an Archetype carries no price, which removes the penalty on experimenting with a different role.

  • Individual attributes can be adjusted alone: Players no longer reset a whole build to change one value, and those edits happen from the in-world menu, the Clubhouse, or directly inside Clubs and Rush lobbies.

Free resets change how players approach a season, since a build locked into one role no longer costs a currency grind to undo.

Every Mastery in FC 27

Masteries in FC 27

Masteries track long-term growth as a complete footballer. Every Archetype a player develops leaves a permanent mark on the Pro: hit a milestone and the attribute gains apply everywhere, not just inside that one build. For example, Level 10 with the Finisher Archetype adds a point of Finishing and a point of Composure across every Archetype a player switches to.

Each of the thirteen Archetypes raises its own attribute pair:

Archetype

Attributes gained

Shot Stopper

GK Positioning, GK Reflexes

Sweeper Keeper

GK Handling, GK Diving

Progressor

Long Passing, Standing Tackle

Boss

Aggression, Strength

Marauder

Sliding Tackle, Sprint Speed

Disruptor

Stamina, Interceptions

Recycler

Def. Awareness, Short Passing

Maestro

Reactions, Ball Control

Creator

Free Kick Accuracy, Vision

Spark

Crossing, Dribbling

Magician

Curve, Acceleration

Finisher

Composure, Finishing

Target

Balance, Jumping

Players who develop several Archetypes end up with a stronger Pro across every position, which rewards anyone spreading time across the pitch.

FC 27 Amps System Explained

FC 27 Amps

Amps are a new item type that give more control over how an Archetype performs, adding specific benefits to the active build for a limited time. High-tier Amps take their inspiration from real players and performances, letting players channel a world-class footballer inside their own Pro. Four Amp tiers split across two separate categories.

Tier

Category

Effect

1

Standard Amps

Attribute gains

2

Standard Amps

Greater attribute gains

3

Signature Amps

Greater attribute gains, PlayStyles and Perks

4

Signature Amps

Greater attribute gains, PlayStyles+ and Perks

Players equip up to three at a time across two Standard slots and one Signature slot, setting them from the Amps tab under Archetypes. Every Amp applies to stadium matches and in-world Rush alike, then expires after a set number of matches. Objectives, Live Events, Campaigns, season progression and the Store all supply them.

EA plans to release new Amps through the live service in step with Campaigns, so the pool available in October differs from the one available in February.

How FC 27 Consumables Work

Consumables push an Archetype forward outside of matches. AXP multipliers still cover every Archetype, and the new Archetype-targeted Consumables send XP straight to one chosen Archetype instead. One item might feed any Archetype, another only Spark, another any midfield Archetype.

Level caps now sit on individual items rather than one shared ceiling, so one Consumable might cap at 20 and another at 40, both inside the overall maximum. Targeted Consumables matter most for anyone chasing Masteries, since levelling a specific Archetype is what triggers those permanent gains.

FC 27 Archetypes, Masteries and Amps FAQs

FAQ's FC 27 Archetypes Masteries Amps

Q: Does resetting an Archetype cost Coins in FC 27?

A: Archetype resets cost neither Coins nor a reset consumable this year. Clubs in FC 26 charged Clubs Coins or a Reset Consumable for the same action, so the change removes a recurring cost. Players can also adjust single attributes without clearing an entire build.

Q: What are Masteries in EA Sports FC 27?

A: In FC 27, Masteries are permanent attribute gains earned by reaching milestones with an Archetype. Gains apply to every other build a player uses.

Q: What are Amps in FC 27?

A: Amps are items adding attribute gains, PlayStyles and Perks to an active Archetype for a limited time. There are two types of Amps split into Standard Amps and Signature Amps.

Q: How many Amps can players equip in FC 27?

A: Players equip up to three Amps at a time, split across two Standard slots and one Signature slot.

Final Worlds

Progression in FC 27 splits into things, and knowing which is which decides how your pro performs. Masteries survive every reset, every rebuild and every balance change, so attribute gains earned in October still apply in June.

However, Amps run on the clock entirely. Each one runs out after a set number of matches and the pool refreshes alongside Campaigns, which makes them worth spending freely rather than saving for a match that matters. Hoarding a Tier 4 Signature Amp only risks it expiring unused.
