Kratos Fortnite Skin and When It Could Come Back
Kratos Fortnite fans have been waiting more than five years for the God of War hero to return to the Item Shop. He arrived in December 2020 as the first Gaming Legends outfit, sold for a few months, then disappeared after March 2021.
That absence turned a regular Fortnite collab skin into an outfit players keep asking about. Anyone who missed him can't buy the Kratos Fortnite skin in the Item Shop today.
This page explains what came in the Kratos Fortnite bundle, how the PS5 style works, and what's confirmed about a possible return.
Kratos Fortnite Skin Summary
Kratos joined Fortnite in December 2020, during Chapter 2 Season 5, as the first entry in the Gaming Legends Series.
The Oathbreaker bundle cost 2,200 V-Bucks, compared to 3,300 for the items separately.
The outfit cost 1,500 V-Bucks and came with the Mimir back bling.
Owners who play a match on PS5 get the gold Armored Kratos style.
His last Item Shop appearance was March 19, 2021, and Epic hasn't announced a return.
When Did Kratos Come to Fortnite?
Kratos came to Fortnite in early December 2020, a few days into Chapter 2 Season 5. PlayStation's announcement on December 3 introduced his Oathbreaker Set as the first entry in the Gaming Legends Series.
The season was built around hunters pulled in from other realities, and Epic named Kratos among the first to join the hunt. He was sold in the Item Shop on every platform, so Xbox, Switch, and PC players could buy him too.
Master Chief followed a week later, on December 10, as the next Gaming Legends outfit. Our guide to the Master Chief skin covers the Halo side of that season.
What Was in the Kratos Fortnite Bundle?
The Kratos Fortnite bundle, sold as the Oathbreaker Set, cost 2,200 V-Bucks. Bought one by one, the same items cost 3,300 V-Bucks.
Item | Type | Price |
|---|---|---|
Kratos with Mimir | Outfit and back bling | 1,500 V-Bucks |
Leviathan Axe | Pickaxe | 1,000 V-Bucks |
Guardian Shield | Glider | 800 V-Bucks |
Oathbreaker bundle | All of the above | 2,200 V-Bucks |
Kratos's Leviathan Axe has a built-in Freezing Burst emote. It now sits on our list of the rarest Fortnite pickaxes. Until it returns, Leviathan Axe accounts are the only way to own it.
Armored Kratos is the set's hidden reward. According to Epic and PlayStation, owners earn the gold style by playing a match on PS5 after buying the outfit. Owners who have never played on a PS5 don't have it.
When Is Kratos Coming Back to Fortnite?
Nobody outside Epic knows when Kratos is coming back to Fortnite. Epic hasn't announced a return, and it has never explained why the outfit has stayed out of the Item Shop since March 19, 2021.
His shop run was short. After the December launch, he came back on March 6, 2021, and his last day in the shop was March 19. Our account value guide lists him as a limited collab skin last seen in March 2021.
Kratos wasn't a Battle Pass reward, so the 18-month return rule for Battle Pass items doesn't apply to him. Epic can bring him back at any time, the same as other Item Shop skins from the biggest Fortnite collabs, and it has given no reason for keeping him out. Skull Trooper, another Item Shop outfit, returns most Halloweens.
In 2024, leakers pointed to an April Kratos return that never happened, and no return date has ever come from Epic, so treat any post promising one with caution. If Epic does announce one, check the Item Shop reset time so you catch him on day one.
How to Get Kratos in Fortnite Today
The only way to get Kratos in Fortnite right now is an account that already owns him. Gifting needs the item to be in the current Item Shop, so it's off the table until he returns.
Kratos accounts often include the rest of the Oathbreaker Set, and some carry the Armored style if the original owner played on PS5. Check the listing for both before buying.
If you'd rather wait, keep V-Bucks ready for a surprise return. The bundle cost 2,200 V-Bucks in 2020, and our page on current V-Bucks prices shows what that amount costs now.
Our Fortnite items cover cosmetics you can get right now, and our list of games like God of War points to similar action games.
FAQs About Kratos Fortnite Skin
Final Words
Kratos was in the shop on and off for about four months, and that short window explains most of the demand today.
The Armored style splits owners into two groups, and those who played a match on PS5 hold the more complete version.
Epic hasn't addressed a Kratos return in over five years. Until it does, any return date is a guess, and the Item Shop is the only place that can prove one.
