Minecraft is getting a new dimension, its first since The End arrived with the full 1.0 release in November 2011. Mojang revealed The Sift at Minecraft Live on September 26, 2026, and the new Minecraft dimension comes to Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027.
The Overworld, the Nether and the End have been the entire map for close to 15 years. A fourth destination means a new set of blocks, mobs and goals for anyone running a long survival world.

The Meadow and the Carapace are the two areas Mojang has named. Footage of the Dungeons II version shows the Meadow as a grassy area full of new plants, and the Carapace as a desert with blue walls and giant hollow fossils.
New mobs appear in the reveal, too. Mojang hasn't named any of them or explained how they behave, so treat early fan names as guesswork.
Mojang's Jens Bergensten said the team built The Sift to complement the existing dimensions, according to Dot Esports. He added that development now runs on far more planning than the hackathon approach behind The End.
