Silent Hill Townfall PC Requirements: Can Your Rig Cope?

Silent Hill: Townfall PC requirements matter more than usual for a horror game, since so much of the dread lives in the presentation. Our Silent Hill: Townfall review credits Pilotpriest's score with half the scaring, next to ray-traced flashlight beams and heavy fog. On PC, all of that costs frame time, and the Silent Hill: Townfall system requirements show how much.

So, can your PC handle it? An RTX 2060 Super or RX 6600 gets you in at 1080p and 30 fps on Low. An RTX 3080 or RX 7800 XT reaches 4K at 30 fps on High with Balanced upscaling. The bigger problem is shader stutter, which hit high-end rigs too at launch.

Below, you'll find the official specs, what third-party benchmarks show, and the settings worth changing on mid-range hardware.

Silent Hill Townfall PC Requirements Summary

Silent Hill Townfall PC Requirements Summary
  • Minimum: RTX 2060 Super or RX 6600, Ryzen 5 3600 or i7-8700K, 16 GB RAM, for 1080p at 30 fps on Low.

  • Recommended: RTX 3080 or RX 7800 XT, Ryzen 7 5700X or i7-9700K, 32 GB RAM, for 4K at 30 fps on High with Balanced upscaling.

  • 60 fps at 1080p on max settings starts around an RTX 4060 Ti in benchmarks.

  • Silent Hill Townfall stutter at launch came from shader compilation and hit every GPU tier, since the CPU does that work.

  • Turn ray tracing off first. Testers saw little visual gain from it in overcast outdoor areas.

Silent Hill Townfall System Requirements, Official Specs

Konami's official specs sit on the Silent Hill: Townfall Steam page. Both tiers ask for Windows 11 x64 and a 75 GB install.

Both targets stop at 30 fps. Minimum aims for 1080p at 30 fps on Low, and the recommended tier only reaches 4K at 30 fps with DLSS, FSR or TSR set to Balanced. Neither official tier promises 60 fps.

Memory is less scary than the 32 GB line suggests. Benchmarks measured 11–12 GB of system RAM in use at every resolution, so 16 GB covers the game itself.

Silent Hill Townfall PC Performance and the Fog Tax

Townfall runs on Unreal Engine 5, with Lumen handling global illumination and ray-traced shadows inside the volumetric fog. That lighting and fog carry the look our review praised.

Resolution

Card for 60 fps (max settings)

VRAM used

1080p

RTX 4060 Ti

RTX 4070 / RX 6900 XT

RTX 4090

~9 GB

At the very top, an RTX 5090 averaged over 60 fps at native 4K with max settings and Hardware Lumen. VRAM use stays near 7 GB below 4K, which fits inside an 8 GB card at 1080p and 1440p.

Ray tracing is the easy cut. In overcast coastal areas with diffused light, testers saw little visual gain for the frame rate it costs. Our review noticed it most on flashlight beams and Otherworld shifts. Bring it back only if you have frames to spare.

Why Silent Hill Townfall Stutter Hits Every Tier

Silent Hill Townfall stutter hits every tier since it comes from shader compilation, which runs on the CPU. The game runs a shader compilation step when it starts, but at launch that step skipped some of them, and the game kept compiling as you entered new areas. The result was hitching with every CPU core maxed out, even on an RTX 5090.

Launch player reports described persistent micro-stutters, sharp frame drops and unusually high CPU usage on top-tier systems. A faster graphics card won't hide those spikes. Let the shader compilation step finish fully before you start playing, and install the game on an SSD. A frame cap below your average (30, or 40 on a 120 Hz display) makes any remaining hitches feel less jarring.

Headphones do more for Townfall than any graphics setting. Footsteps two rooms away and the hiss of the CRTV carry most of the scares, and they land the same at 30 fps as at 60.

FAQs About Silent Hill Townfall PC Requirements

FAQs About Silent Hill Townfall PC Requirements

Can I run Silent Hill: Townfall on a GTX card?

The minimum GPU is an RTX 2060 Super or RX 6600, so GTX 10 and 16 series cards fall below the official floor.

Does Silent Hill: Townfall run on Windows 10?

The official specs list Windows 11 only. DSOGaming ran its RTX 5090 test on Windows 10, but that setup sits outside official support.

Does Silent Hill: Townfall support DLSS and FSR?

Yes. DLSS, FSR and TSR are all supported, and the recommended 4K target assumes Balanced mode. The spec sheet doesn't mention frame generation.

Which platforms is Silent Hill: Townfall on?

It launched on PS5 and PC, with the PC version sold through Steam and the Epic Games Store. There was no Xbox or Switch version at launch.

Final Words

In Townfall, a locked 30 fps with good headphones beats an unstable 60. The scares ride on sound and fog, so smooth frame pacing matters more than a high counter.

If your rig sits near the minimum tier, plan around 1080p with Balanced upscaling and ray tracing off, and treat 30 fps as the real target. That matches what Konami promises for the tier.

Watch how the hitches behave before you blame your hardware. A spike that appears only the first time you enter an area is shader compilation and usually fades on repeat visits. Hitches that keep coming back in the same spot are more likely a CPU or storage bottleneck.
