Silent Hill Townfall Stealth, Combat and Ammo Explained

Silent Hill Townfall stealth is the main way you survive St. Amelia. In our Silent Hill: Townfall review, stealth was the system that carried most of the run, right up until one enemy started pulling it apart. Silent Hill: Townfall combat exists, but it sits at the bottom of your options.
Silent Hill: Townfall, Screen Burn Interactive's first-person horror game, launched on September 24, 2026, for PS5 and PC. Monsters hear well, weapons break, and Silent Hill Townfall ammo is rare enough that every bullet feels like a decision.
This page explains how hiding works, what melee and guns can do, and why The Weight is the enemy that tests all of it.
Silent Hill Townfall Stealth, Combat and Ammo Summary

Stealth comes first. Cover, corner peeks, hiding spots and thrown objects keep you out of fights.
Melee is block and swing only, with no dodge, and planks splinter after a handful of hits.
Guns are loud. A handgun and a late shotgun exist, but ammo is scarce and each shot draws nearby monsters.
The Weight is a nearly invincible pursuer that kills in one grab and can catch you right after an IV drip revive.
How Does Stealth Work in Silent Hill Townfall?
You stay out of sight, listen, and move when monsters look away. Fences, signs and parked cars work as cover, and you can lean around corners with R1 and the right stick. Rounding a building breaks line of sight.
Cabinets, closets and lockers let you hide and watch through the cracks. If a creature sees you climb in, it can come after you. Check that nothing is facing you before you step inside. Our reviewer learned that one the painful way on the first evening.
The common monsters are fleshy, moaning humanoids with sharp hearing. You can throw objects you pick up to pull them away, and you can lock doors behind you for a few seconds of safety. The CRTV, a pocket television that replaces the classic radio, shows threats through walls, though you tune into one creature's signal at a time.
Even the map is a risk. It opens with the game still running, and monsters keep moving as you plan a route.
Silent Hill Townfall Combat Is the Last Resort
In melee, Silent Hill Townfall combat lets Simon block and swing, and that's it. There's no dodge, so you can't slip past an attack once a fight starts.
Durability is the second problem. Planks splinter after a handful of hits, and steel pipes last only a little longer. Every fight you skip leaves your weapon in one piece for the next one.
Against a single monster, melee settles into a rhythm of block, swing twice, back off. Against two or more, that rhythm falls apart quickly. If you came in hoping for the brawling of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Townfall's melee will feel thin.
Option | What it gives you | What it costs |
|---|---|---|
Cover and corner peeks | Scouting without being seen | Monsters can still hear you |
Cabinets, closets, lockers | A hidden view through the cracks | A monster that sees you enter can follow |
Thrown objects | Pulls monsters away | Needs items on hand |
Locked doors | A few seconds of safety | Only a short delay |
Plank or steel pipe | Close-range defense | Breaks after a handful of hits |
Handgun or shotgun | Your only ranged option | Scarce ammo, and shots draw monsters |
Silent Hill Townfall Ammo Is Scarce and Every Shot Is Loud
You get two guns: a handgun, and later on a shotgun. VGC found they hit harder than most horror game guns.
Silent Hill Townfall ammo stays scarce, and every shot pulls other monsters toward the noise. Firing to escape one creature can bring more of them to you, which turns most gunfights into a losing trade. On PS5, the adaptive triggers give each weapon its own resistance, a feature Sony lists on the official Silent Hill: Townfall PlayStation Store page. Our reviewer said this made the rare shot feel expensive.
So when should you shoot? Save your ammo for moments stealth can't solve, like a monster blocking the only exit or a corner you can't back out of.
The Weight Breaks the Stealth Loop
The Weight is a larger, nearly invincible creature that moves as if hauling something on its back. It kills Simon in one grab, so avoiding it is the whole plan. Its sections move into dark basements where you need a light to see, and the light gives you away.
Expect long stretches in lockers, waiting for it to wander off. Our reviewer noted that a couple of times it seemed to know where Simon was without a readable reason. An equipped IV drip brings Simon back on the spot after a death. Against The Weight, you can revive right next to it and die again before you move.
Those basement stretches in the second half are where the stealth design stops being fun. They were the main reason our review landed at 8 instead of 9.
FAQs About Silent Hill Townfall Stealth, Combat and Ammo

Final Words
Townfall is at its best when you're weaker than everything around you. With ordinary monsters, a failed sneak usually has a cause you can spot: you stepped into a monster's line of sight, climbed into a locker in plain view, or fired a shot you didn't need.
The Weight breaks that deal. When it finds you for no reason you can read, patience is the only tool left.
Will Screen Burn change how The Weight tracks you? Nobody outside the studio knows yet. The only official update plan on Steam so far covers PC performance and says nothing about enemy behavior. Until that changes, use the early hours as practice: learn which hiding spots hold up, and hang on to your ammo.
