Deadlock Map Guide to Every Lane and District

Deadlock Map Guide to Every Lane and District

The Deadlock map is called the Cursed Apple, and the City Never Sleeps update gave it a full visual rebuild on September 29, 2026. The three Deadlock lanes kept their names, and the four districts between them now have their own monsters and landmarks.

New players in Deadlock usually learn heroes first and the city second. I'd flip that if you queue with friends, since a callout like two in Chinatown only helps when everyone pictures the same spot.

This page walks through every lane and district, then the objectives and pickups worth fighting over.

Deadlock Map Guide Summary

  • The Cursed Apple map has three lanes: York (yellow, left), Broadway (blue, middle), and Greenwich (green, right).

  • The four Deadlock districts are Theater, Chinatown, Haunted Lot, and Plaza, each with its own Haunts.

  • The Bell Tower is in Chinatown. Collecting souls at its top rings a bell the whole map hears.

  • The Sunken Plaza sits under the Plaza district. Rewards grow the deeper you go, but sound and stamina fade.

  • Tough Crates only break to a Heavy Melee and drop more souls than regular crates.

  • Buff Containers can now roll Spirit Resist, Bullet Resist, Ability Range, and Move Speed as permanent stats.

Broadway, Greenwich and York at a Glance

Each of the three Deadlock lanes runs from one base to the other, guarded by Guardians and then Walkers on both sides. A zipline in the lane's color runs overhead, and you can ride it as far as your Troopers have pushed.

Broadway is the most direct route to the enemy base, and the Mid-Boss waits in a sewer below it. Times Square sits at the center of the lane, and Downtown runs over the subway line.

Greenwich is an overgrown park with an occult university, Umbria, on one end. York mixes the Stock Exchange with docks and old factory grounds. Calling the stop name (Central Park, Seaport) tells your team which stretch of the lane the fight is in, though nobody has published the stop order from base to base.

Four Deadlock Districts Between the Lanes

Four Deadlock districts fill the back alleys between the main lanes. They have no Troopers or towers, only neutral Haunts worth a lot of souls.

Lane placement follows the community wiki, which also puts Theater and Plaza on the Archmother's half. Valve hasn't published a labeled district map, so treat team sides as unconfirmed.

Chinatown is the busiest district, with two Haunt types and the Bell Tower. Haunted Lot runs quieter with straight camps for rotation farming, and Theater's halls and stages suit ambushes.

Sunken Plaza and Bell Tower

The Bell Tower is in Chinatown, on a tower roof ringed with bells. Its top is a dense soul hotspot, and collecting there rings a bell the whole map can hear.

Under the Plaza district sits the Sunken Plaza, an underground square filled with purple fog. Rewards get bigger the deeper you go, but outside sound fades and your stamina drains without regenerating. Run it dry, and you can't wall jump your way out.

Is the payout worth it? Usually, if you know where the enemy is. Go down with enough stamina to climb back out, and farm the tower when a teammate is close enough to punish whoever answers the bell.

Tough Crates, Steam Vents and Healing Snacks

Tough Crates only break to a Heavy Melee, and they always drop more souls than regular crates. Most breakables spawn at 3:00 and come back 3 minutes after you destroy them.

Steam Vents hide you from enemy view and give a small amount of regen as long as you stand in them. Your stamina won't regenerate inside the steam, so a vent is a good place to wait out a gank and a bad place to start a chase.

Healing Snacks are floating pickups hidden around the map, 36 in total. Each heals 10% of max health over 4 seconds and respawns 3 minutes after pickup.

Speed pads are gone, so rotations run on ziplines, teleporters, and your own stamina.

Buff Containers and Which Buff to Take

Buff Containers and Which Buff to Take

Buff Containers are the reworked golden statues. Breaking one gives a chance at a permanent stat buff, and you can't pick which stat rolls.

City Never Sleeps added Spirit Resist, Bullet Resist, Ability Range, and Move Speed to that pool. Buff values have grown with match time in past patches, so a statue broken late has paid more than one broken early.

Timed powerups spawn every 5 minutes at two spots, and an uncollected one gets replaced by the next. Contest it when it fits your build, a gun buff for a gun carry or a survival buff for a frontliner, and let it go when the walk costs you a wave.

FAQs About Deadlock Map

How many lanes does the Deadlock map have?

Three. York is on the left, Broadway in the middle, and Greenwich on the right. Valve removed the fourth lane in a February 2025 map rework.

Where is the Bell Tower in Deadlock?

It's in the Chinatown district, on top of a tower ringed with bells. Collecting souls up there rings a bell the whole map hears.

What does the Mid-Boss give on the Deadlock map?

Killing it drops the Rejuvenator Crystal, which either team can claim. The team that breaks it gets the Rejuvenator buff, good for up to 3 revives.

Is the Cursed Apple map the same after City Never Sleeps?

The three lanes kept their names, but the visuals, Haunts, and district identities were rebuilt. Some areas, such as the Haunted Lot, stayed close to their old layout.

Final Words

Say the names out loud. Ping the minimap, call Chinatown or Seaport by name, and within a few matches the city stops being a maze of rooftops.

Treat every bell ring as a free ping on an enemy's position, and rotate toward it when your team is close.

Valve still calls Deadlock unfinished, so expect the map to keep moving. Soul values and timers didn't ship with the update notes, and numbers like the Healing Snack heal may change as players test them.
