Silver Pines Combat Guide to Weapons, Healing, Bosses

Silver Pines Combat Guide to Weapons, Healing, Bosses

Silver Pines combat runs on scarcity. Silver Pines hands Red Walker a box cutter and a revolver early, then makes every bullet and every Silver Pines weapon swing count. Enemies drop nothing when they fall, so each fight costs resources and pays back none.

Our Silver Pines review called the fighting scarce and stiff: no crosshair, slow manual reloads, real-time menus, and bosses that soak damage.

Below, you'll find every weapon type, how melee durability works, healing with Silver Pines Mementos, and how the four Silver Pines difficulty settings change the fights.

Silver Pines Combat Guide Summary

  • Guns never break; melee weapons do. Save ammo for bosses and skip fights you don't need.

  • Durability only drops on enemy hits, so breaking walls costs nothing.

  • Herb tonics need empty bottles, and bottles were what our review run kept running short on.

  • 25 Mementos give passive buffs, and 16 Vessel Shards raise you to five Memento slots.

  • Four difficulties: Relaxed, Tense, Survival Horror (the intended mode), and Nightmare. The two easiest add dodge invulnerability frames.

Every Silver Pines Weapon Type and When to Use It

Every Silver Pines Weapon Type and When to Use It

Silver Pines weapons split into firearms that never wear out and melee tools that break. The Box Cutter and the Snub .38 Revolver come first, and heavier options turn up as new districts open. No gun has a crosshair, so close the distance before you fire.

Community walkthroughs also list the Double Barrel Shotgun, the North Star lever-action shotgun, S-1 Carbine, 1911 Service Pistol, Nailgun, Shovel and Baseball Bat, and the Swedish K SMG shows up among the unlockables. Finishing the Leave ending rewards the Switchblade, and the Live ending rewards the Omega Rifle.

Guns earn their ammo against bosses and enemies blocking a corridor you can't dodge around. The 1911 takes a laser sight from the Downtown Ammo Zone, the nearest thing to a reticle in the game.

Melee Durability and How to Stretch It

Melee weapons break fast. In our review playthrough, the first box cutter lasted about one bad hallway, and the developer has said broken melee weapons deal very low damage.

Durability drops only when you hit enemies, so breaking walls costs nothing. Duct Tape from the motel vending machine restores a small amount, and combining it with Spare Parts makes a Makeshift Repair Kit. In our review run, tape and kits bought only a little extra life.

Skipping a fight saves more durability than any repair. Demo players on Steam found that a charged strike staggered enemies long enough to walk past, and that a standing backstep before a forward dodge avoided hits more reliably. Wych Elm returned the dodge before launch, so test both early.

Stamina caps how often you can swing. The Diner's coffee machine raises it permanently, and the 30 Days Sober Chip Memento cuts melee stamina cost by 30%. Skip the Mended Tooth if repairs are tight: it adds 15% melee damage but breaks weapons 25% faster.

Healing, Bottles and Silver Pines Mementos

Healing, Bottles and Silver Pines Mementos

Healing comes from First Aid Kits, drinks such as soda, and herbs mixed into empty bottles:

  • Healing Tonic: Flatleaf Herb plus a bottle. Two make a Potent Healing Tonic.

  • Catalyst: Turkey's Crown plus a bottle. A tonic and a Catalyst together heal you completely.

  • Energizing Tonic and Antidote: Pale Lichen for stamina, Blackstem Nettle for poison.

Menus don't pause the action, so heal before a fight or after you've backed off. Nine hidden hip bags add two inventory slots each.

Silver Pines Mementos are collectibles with passive effects, and community guides count 25. Shooting wooden bird figurines with wind chimes yields Vessel Shards, and every four form a Vessel that adds a slot, up to five. Our picks for fights:

Memento

Corroded Iron Ball

Take 10% less damage

Cat Collar

Hula Figurine

Dodging costs 25% less stamina

Smooth Stone with a hole

Headshots deal 20% more damage

Dice Pair

20% more ranged damage, 30% more damage taken

Which Silver Pines Difficulty to Pick

The official Silver Pines X account confirmed four difficulty options, all available from the start:

Difficulty

Official description

Relaxed

Focus on story and exploration

Tense

Scales tipped slightly in your favor

Survival Horror

The intended experience

Nightmare

Tougher encounters, fewer resources

Relaxed and Tense also give the dodge extra invulnerability frames, per the developer on the Steam forums. Dodging is your main defense on the flat 2D plane, so pick Tense if stiff controls worry you. Survival Horror is the intended mode and, per the developer, a little harder than the demo.

Bosses arrive under a red haze and soak a lot of damage, which makes them the place to spend ammo. Menus run in real time, so set your Mementos and heal before opening doors into new areas. The Sheriff, fought at sewer flow control, drops the .44 Magnum for the fights after him.

FAQs About Silver Pines Combat

Where is the shotgun in Silver Pines?

The W-500 Shotgun sits in the weapon locker in the Crimson Bear Motel gift shop, opened with code 6671. It's optional, but guides warn the game gets rough without it.

How many Mementos are in Silver Pines?

Community guides count 25. Collecting all of them earns the Live ending, and all 16 Vessel Shards give you five slots.

What is the hardest Silver Pines difficulty?

Nightmare, with tougher encounters and fewer resources. You can pick it on a first playthrough.

Can you avoid combat in Silver Pines?

Yes, and often you should. Crouching sneaks you past distracted enemies, and nothing you kill drops loot.

Final Words

Our review playthrough left one clear lesson about Silver Pines combat: restraint wins more runs than aim. Why spend a box cutter and two bottles on a pest that drops nothing?

Pick up every empty bottle you see. A tonic and a Catalyst carried together cover the boss you didn't see coming.

Wych Elm already adjusted the dodge and resources between the demo and launch, and patches could shift the tiers again. If Tense feels soft after a few hours, a second run on Survival Horror shows what the studio intended.
