WoW Forever New Zones: Locations and Level Ranges

WoW Forever adds new places to a map that many players could draw from memory. Mount Hyjal finally gives you a reason to head beyond Winterspring, Riverglades adds another mid-level questing option, and Skyborne characters begin above Azeroth on Zephras Isle.
Shen’dralas joins those additions with stories tied to ancient elves and the centaur tribes of Kalimdor. You’ll also find changes along familiar routes, so following an old leveling checklist can mean walking straight past something new.
Here’s where the new areas fit, when to visit them, and which travel details are available ahead of launch.
WoW Forever New Zones Summary
Zephras Isle is the Skyborne starting area for levels 1–12.
Riverglades provides quests through roughly the mid-30s to mid-40s in the Eastern Kingdoms.
Mount Hyjal is a level 60 destination in Kalimdor, reached through Darkwhisper Gorge.
Shen’dralas adds an area south of Desolace; Blizzard’s zone previews don’t specify its level range.
New boat connections give players more options for crossing between questing areas.
Forever has no level scaling, so check a zone’s intended levels before making a long trip.
All New WoW Forever Zones
The new areas serve different stages of your character’s progress. Use this table to decide which one belongs on your next trip.
Zone | Location | Intended levels | Main focus |
|---|---|---|---|
Zephras Isle | Skywall, the Elemental Plane of Air | 1–12 | Skyborne starting story |
Riverglades | Eastern Kingdoms, near Redridge and the Burning Steppes | Roughly 35–45 | Mid-level quests for Horde and Alliance |
Shen’dralas | Southern Desolace, Kalimdor | Not specified yet | Shen’dralar history and regional stories |
Mount Hyjal | Kalimdor, beyond southern Winterspring | 60 | Outdoor endgame content and Hyjal Summit |
These are the announced areas and current level expectations checked on October 18, 2026. Beta testing can still change access routes, quests, and other details.
Zephras Isle: The Skyborne Starting Zone

Zephras Isle introduces Skyborne characters to Forever at levels 1–12. Their home lies within Skywall, where elemental wind spirits once helped sustain their civilization.
Something has gone badly wrong. Those spirits have vanished, structures are failing, and communities are losing contact with each other. Your first quests take place during that crisis.
The setting combines Warcraft’s familiar visual style with architecture suited to an island in the Elemental Plane of Air. It gives a new character a different opening view: suspended structures and a civilization trying to keep its home intact.
You choose your faction at character creation. High Order Skyborne join the Alliance; Windshaper Skyborne join the Horde. Both begin with a connection to Zephras, so the island belongs to the race’s starting story across both faction choices.
For planning purposes, treat Zephras as your opening chapter. The rest of your leveling route continues beyond its 1–12 experience.
Riverglades: A New Mid-Level Questing Area

Riverglades fills a previously inaccessible part of the Eastern Kingdoms near Redridge Mountains, the Burning Steppes, the Swamp of Sorrows, and the Badlands. Its quests cover roughly the mid-30s to mid-40s.
That puts it at a useful point in a leveling route. If you want a different stretch of quests around level 35, leave room for a visit instead of committing every level to your usual circuit.
The zone includes rivers, grasslands, settlements, and trading interests with plenty of trouble nearby. Gnolls and ogres are among its threats, and the Powderfuse goblins operate a port connected to the Steamwheedle Cartel’s shipping route.
Blizzard’s previews describe more than 150 quests, with the later Found Photos recap putting the total near 200 across Horde and Alliance. Those are zone-wide descriptions; don’t read them as a guaranteed number for one character.
How to Reach Riverglades
The overland approach heads north through Redridge Mountains, turning toward Riverglades before entering the Burning Steppes.
There’s also a sea connection from the Steamwheedle Cartel in Tanaris to Powderfuse Port. Choose the approach that fits where your character already is. Crossing half a continent to use a different entrance rarely makes a questing session shorter.
Shen’dralas: New Stories South of Desolace

Shen’dralas sits south of Desolace, with an approach through the Valley of Bones. Its stories connect to the Shen’dralar, Eldre’Thalas, Dire Maul, and the region’s centaur tribes.
The names are easy to mix up: Shen’dralas is the area covered here; Shen’dralar refers to the elven group connected to its history.
Blizzard’s zone previews don’t give Shen’dralas a firm level band. That leaves a gap for anyone building a strict leveling route. Check the quests and enemy levels when you reach the area rather than assigning it the same range as Riverglades.
Desolace also receives more centaur faction content and rewards. A return trip can include new reasons to spend time in a region you might previously have rushed through.
Mount Hyjal: A Level 60 Destination

Mount Hyjal opens a part of Kalimdor with a long Warcraft history. Forever’s story follows the aftermath of Archimonde’s defeat and the work of restoring the damaged region.
It’s a level 60 destination, so save it for your endgame plans. The route runs south through Winterspring into Darkwhisper Gorge, then onward to Hyjal.
Hyjal also houses Hyjal Summit, the announced 20-player raid. Outdoor questing and a scheduled raid opening are separate parts of your plans: reaching the zone doesn’t make every activity available immediately.
If Hyjal is your main reason to return, your first task is still getting a character ready for level 60 content. Keep your gear, training, and supplies in mind alongside the route itself.
New Travel Routes and Changes to Familiar Areas
Forever adds boat connections alongside its new questing areas. Blizzard has described a Stormwind Harbor–Auberdine connection, another route linking Menethil, Southshore, and Auberdine, and the Tanaris–Riverglades route.
Those connections are useful when you’re meeting friends or changing continents. Check where the next boat takes you before setting off on a much longer run.
Existing starting areas receive new NPCs, quests, profession activities, and recipes. Wetlands and Desolace also get more content, so a familiar zone name doesn’t guarantee an identical quest list.
Set aside some WoW Forever gold for flights, repairs, and supplies before a long questing trip. A full bag and broken gear are poor traveling companions.

Final Words
Leave a little room in your leveling plans. Riverglades gives you another mid-level option, Zephras changes the opening hours for Skyborne, and Hyjal waits at level 60.
You don’t need a perfect route before creating your character. Pick a few places you want to visit, check their levels, and leave yourself time to follow a quest you haven’t seen before.
