WoW Forever Skyborne: Classes, Racials and How to Play

Skyborne give World of Warcraft: Forever players a new elven race with a home in Skywall and a choice between Alliance and Horde. Your faction affects both your class options and one of your racial abilities.
Want a Skyborne Mage? Choose Alliance. A Skyborne Shaman belongs to the Horde. Druids, Hunters, Rogues, and Warriors can join either side.
There’s also a purchase requirement to check before planning your character. General Forever access comes with WoW game time; playing Skyborne requires a separate pack.
WoW Forever Skyborne Summary
Alliance High Order Skyborne and Horde Windshaper Skyborne each have five class options.
Mage is Alliance-only; Shaman is Horde-only. Both factions offer Druid, Hunter, Rogue, and Warrior.
The October 15 beta update increased Wind Blessed to 3% Haste.
Both variants share a glide and extra damage against Elementals. Their faction racial provides regeneration or movement speed.
Skyborne start on Zephras Isle, a level 1–12 zone.
Race access requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher, plus a subscription or game time for launch play.
Blizzard plans SD Skyborne models and SD Druid forms for early 2027.
Who Are the Skyborne?

The Skyborne descend from Highborne elves who made a pact with wind spirits and settled within Skywall. Their island home, Zephras Isle, now faces a crisis: those spirits have disappeared, and the structures keeping their civilization together are failing.
Their two playable groups disagree on how to respond. Windshapers seek their missing elemental mentors. The High Order turns toward ancestral arcane knowledge and greater independence.
That divide carries into character creation. Windshapers join the Horde, and the High Order joins the Alliance.
How to Play Skyborne in WoW Forever
Purchase the Skyborne Heroic Pack or an edition containing its benefits to get access to the race and its starting questline.
Edition | Skyborne and Zephras Isle | Beta access | Game time |
|---|---|---|---|
Skyborne Heroic Pack | ✅ | ❌ | None |
Skyborne Epic Pack | ✅ | ✅ | 30 days at launch |
Warcraft Forever Collection | ✅ | ✅ | 30 days at launch |
The Heroic Pack is the entry option for race access. Epic adds beta access and game time, among other extras. The Collection includes the Epic benefits, Warcraft III: Reforged, and its Forsaken Kingdom campaign.
A pack purchase and an active subscription are separate requirements. Heroic buyers need their own subscription or game time. Epic and Collection buyers receive 30 days when Forever launches, then need further game time to continue.
The beta runs through October 21, 2026, so check the remaining testing window before buying a higher edition for that benefit.
Skyborne Classes for Alliance and Horde
Each faction has five Skyborne classes. Check this before creating a character with friends; a Mage and Shaman pairing would put your Skyborne characters on opposite sides.
Class | Alliance: High Order | Horde: Windshaper |
|---|---|---|
Druid | ✅ | ✅ |
Hunter | ✅ | ✅ |
Mage | ✅ | ❌ |
Paladin | ❌ | ❌ |
Priest | ❌ | ❌ |
Rogue | ✅ | ✅ |
Shaman | ❌ | ✅ |
Warlock | ❌ | ❌ |
Warrior | ✅ | ✅ |
You choose your faction during character creation.
For the four shared classes, start with the faction your group intends to play. You can compare the racial abilities after that. A small character bonus is unlikely to make up for choosing a faction that leaves your regular group elsewhere.
Skyborne Racial Abilities
Each Skyborne variant has two active abilities and two passives. Three traits are shared; the remaining active depends on faction.
Racial | Available to | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Walk on Air | Both factions | Glide downward for 10 seconds; 90-second cooldown |
Wind Blessed | Both factions | 3% increased melee, ranged, and spellcasting Haste |
Elemental Insight | Both factions | 5% extra damage against Elementals |
Skysight | Elemental blessing that increases run speed by 10% | |
Read Ley Line | Draw on a ley line for increased health and mana regeneration |
These are beta abilities and can change before launch. The table includes Blizzard’s October 15 updates rather than repeating the older announcement’s 1% Haste figure.
Shared Racial Traits
Walk on Air gives you a short glide during a descent. Check your landing spot before jumping; ten seconds can pass quickly when you’re halfway down a cliff.
Wind Blessed applies to melee, ranged attacks, and spellcasting. Elemental Insight depends on the enemy’s creature type, so its damage bonus won’t apply to every fight.
Horde: Skysight
Skysight supplies a movement-speed benefit tied to the Windshapers’ elemental connection. The October 15 update lets you cast it on the move.
Its duration depends on finding an elemental convergence. That makes nearby convergence locations relevant when using the ability.
Alliance: Read Ley Line
Read Ley Line provides health and mana regeneration. It affects regeneration rather than instantly refilling both bars.
Blizzard’s October 15 notes let you cast it on the move and raised its minimum duration to 30 seconds. The same update added more ley line and elemental convergence spawn locations across most Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor zones.
Zephras Isle Starting Zone

Skyborne characters begin on Zephras Isle, which covers levels 1–12.
The island introduces their society and its missing wind spirits. Failing structures and isolated communities give the starting story its immediate problem, with elemental architecture surrounding an elven settlement.
This is the race’s opening experience. Access to its questline comes with the same pack requirement as Skyborne themselves.
Skyborne Customization and Druid Forms
Character creation offers skin tones, hairstyles, eye colors, ear lengths, tattoos, and feather options. Some choices depend on body type. You can also change your appearance later at a city barber shop for an in-game fee.
Both factions can create Druids, with forms made for the race.
HD Druid Form Changes
Blizzard has previewed revisions to the HD Skyborne Druid forms, including changes to fur textures, softness, and color saturation. The aim is a closer visual fit with Azeroth’s other creatures.
Treat preview images as work in progress. They show the direction of the art changes, and further revisions may follow.
When Are SD Skyborne Models Coming?
SD Skyborne character models and SD Druid forms are planned for early 2027. Blizzard hasn’t announced an exact date.
Players who prefer the older model style will need to wait for that addition. Plan around HD Skyborne models for launch.
Should You Choose Alliance or Horde Skyborne?
Your intended class settles the question for Mage and Shaman players. For a shared class, consider your friends, preferred faction, and character appearance first.
Then compare the faction racials. Skysight offers extra run speed; Read Ley Line provides regeneration. Think about which benefit you’ll use during your usual play sessions.
There isn’t enough here to declare one faction the best choice for every Skyborne character. Beta tuning is still changing the numbers, and the value of each ability depends on your class and activity.
FAQs About WoW Forever Skyborne
Final Words
Decide your class and faction before buying a pack. Check what the edition includes, arrange game time, and agree on a faction with your friends.
For players set on Skyborne, the main decisions are straightforward: arcane High Order or elemental Windshapers, five classes per side, and a starting experience on Zephras Isle. The racial numbers remain subject to beta tuning.
