WoW Forever PvP Guide: Honor, Ranks, and Gear
WoW Forever PvP gives you several goals to work toward: equipment purchases, higher ranks, battleground reputation, and seasonal tasks. The first distinction to learn is between Honor, which pays for PvP rewards, and Rank Points, which move you through the ranks.
If you're buying gold for training and supplies, budget for those expenses separately. Ranked PvP equipment has its own Honor and rank requirements that gold doesn't replace.
You can start learning battlegrounds during leveling, then build toward higher-rank rewards as your character develops. This guide covers the progression system, reward milestones, and the new Darkspear Islands battleground.

Open your Character Panel with C, then select the Player vs. Player tab to view your rank, Rank Points, and available rank rewards. If you've changed your keybinds, open the panel through your character interface instead.
For planning a session, decide what you're working toward. A rank milestone, enough Honor for a purchase, and reputation with a particular battleground faction can point you toward different activities.
How PvP Ranks Work in WoW Forever
The rank ladder ends at Grand Marshal for Alliance and High Warlord for Horde. Your progress comes from earning Rank Points, with weekly limits controlling how far you can advance.
Rank progress doesn't suffer weekly inactivity decay during a season. Taking a break doesn't send you backward through the bar. Seasonal progression is a separate consideration, so don't treat that protection as a promise that your current rank lasts through every future season.
Check the current limit in your PvP interface before planning a long ranking session. Once you've reached the available rank ceiling, you may prefer to work on equipment, reputation, or another part of your character.
Buying a PvP item with Honor doesn't reduce your Rank Points. That gives you room to use equipment you've earned without sacrificing the ranking progress you've already made.

Choose a milestone that fits how much you want to play. The trinket is an early target to investigate, and later ranks add equipment, mounts, and cosmetic goals. Check the actual item tooltip and vendor requirements before saving toward a purchase.
How to Get Blue and Epic PvP Gear
The equipment path includes a blue-quality set and an epic-quality set. For epic armor, you need the corresponding blue piece and an Emboldened Seal. Your rank determines when you can purchase the relevant seal.
Keep blue pieces you intend to convert. Selling one after replacing it with a temporary dungeon drop can leave you needing to obtain it again for the epic version.
Check the specialization the equipment supports too. Blizzard has added or reworked options for previously underserved roles, including separate Shaman PvP sets for healing, melee damage, and spell damage.
For a healer, compare the healing and casting stats you need before choosing between similar-looking pieces. For a damage dealer, check that you're looking at the right weapon type and stat distribution for your build.
If you're buying items to stock up for matches, check consumable requirements and where each item can be used. Keep those supplies separate from your ranked equipment plan, which depends on PvP currencies and eligibility.
Vendor prices deserve a fresh check before every major purchase. Blizzard adjusted PvP item and token costs during beta, so an older shopping list may no longer match the live vendor.
Which Battlegrounds Are Available?
WoW Forever includes the three familiar Classic battlegrounds and the new Darkspear Islands map.

These level spans describe overall eligibility, rather than one shared bracket for every character in that range. Check the queue for your character's current bracket.
Battleground holiday weeks offer increased rewards in the featured map. Check the active event and its quests before queuing, especially if you're choosing between a reputation goal and a particular equipment purchase.
Blizzard also reviewed Honor gains across battlegrounds to reduce the pressure to farm Alterac Valley exclusively. Pick a map you enjoy and learn its objectives; an old Classic farming recommendation doesn't establish the best choice in Forever.
How Darkspear Islands Works
Darkspear Islands takes place off Dustwallow Marsh and pits the Darkspear Raiders against the Theramore Expeditionary Force. Each side has 15 players, and the first team to reach 2,000 points wins.
Teams score by holding four capture points. Controlling more bases increases the rate at which your team earns points. A central flag adds another objective: carry it to a base your team controls to score.
A useful starting habit is to check your bases before joining the fight over the flag. Someone still needs to defend what your team already holds. Call incoming attackers early, and avoid dragging every nearby teammate into a chase away from an objective.
How to Queue and Find Rewards
You can queue through a battlemaster in a major capital. The Barrens also has faction bases with access to the battleground: Horde players can visit the Darkspear Raiders at the Merchant Coast, and Alliance players can visit the Theramore Expeditionary Force at Northwatch.
Those bases have quests and reputation vendors. Their rewards include equipment and consumables at different reputation thresholds, with a short questline at Exalted for the faction's tabard.
Do You Need a PvP Ruleset for Battlegrounds?
No. You can play battlegrounds on a Normal ruleset. Choosing PvP mainly changes the risks you encounter out in the world.
On PvP and Roleplay PvP rulesets, opposing players can interrupt your outdoor activities under the ruleset's PvP conditions. Choose with that experience in mind if your friends are deciding where to play.
Battleground matchmaking can include players from different non-Hardcore rulesets. That doesn't let you form a cross-ruleset party with friends and queue together. Plan your characters on the same ruleset and faction if playing together is the goal.
PvP Seasons and Legacy Points
Seasonal PvP tasks provide another source of Honor and Rank Points. Selected tasks also contribute to your account's Legacy progression.
Blizzard lists 12 Legacy Points from PvP challenges: five from reaching ranks 3, 7, 10, 13, and 14; four from battleground reputations; and three from the designated seasonal quests for weeks 4, 7, and 10.
Check those objectives as you play. You may be closer to a milestone than you think after working toward a vendor purchase or reputation reward.
