Onimusha Way of the Sword Platforms and System Requirements

The Onimusha Way of the Sword system requirements are modest for a 2026 Capcom release. Onimusha: Way of the Sword runs on four platforms, and the PC minimum starts at a GTX 1660, a card that turned seven this year.

We flagged this in our Onimusha: Way of the Sword review, where the specs got a section of their own. Below, you'll find the full PC tables, every console mode, and what PC players have reported since launch.

Which Platforms Can Run Onimusha Way of the Sword?

Four platforms run it: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, where it sells through the official Steam store page. All four launched on the same day, and there's no PS4 or Xbox One version.

Every console version offers a quality mode at 30 fps and a performance mode aimed at 60. On PS5 and Series X, uncapping the frame rate lets performance mode run above 60.

Onimusha PC Requirements Explained

The Onimusha PC requirements come in two tiers on Steam, and both fps targets assume upscaling. Capcom lists NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 3.1, frame generation is in, and Intel XeSS is missing.

Windows 11 sits on both tiers, so a Windows 10 install falls outside Capcom's stated support. Both tiers also call for an SSD, which leaves an old hard drive out of the picture.

How Does Onimusha Run on Steam Deck and Switch 2?

Both run it well enough to finish the campaign, and Onimusha Switch 2 performance is the steadier of the two.

SteamDeckHQ's testing found a mostly solid 30 fps on default settings with a 30 fps cap, and advises leaving those defaults alone. The Eastern Kyoto hub is the exception, where CPU load causes stutter and battery drain climbs to around 20W. Expect roughly 2.5–3 hours per charge on Onimusha Steam Deck sessions.

On Switch 2, docked play reaches up to 1080p and can dip to 720p in busy fights, and the optional 30 fps cap gives the most stable result. Handheld tops out at 900p. The retail copy is a Game-Key Card, so the cartridge works as a license and the game itself downloads to the console.

What PC Players Report Since Launch

A Steam Community thread on stutter opened on launch day, and players on an RTX 5090, RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 describe hitches in specific areas.

Two players said updating to the latest NVIDIA driver helped, one of them after a reboot and a full reinstall. Another said the stutter disappeared after rolling DLSS back from the newest version. Deleting the shader cache file was suggested too, but the player who tried it still had stutter.

Is it a shader problem, then? Probably not. The PC port compiles shaders before play, and our reviewer never hit a shader stutter. Capcom hasn't replied in that thread, and no patch had landed as of September 24. Start with a driver update and a DLSS rollback.

FAQs About Ominusha Platforms and System Requirements

FAQs About Ominusha Platforms and System Requirements

What are the minimum Onimusha Way of the Sword system requirements?

An Intel Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 3 3100, 16 GB RAM and a GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT. That gets you 1080p at 30 fps on Low with upscaling, on Windows 11 with 50 GB of SSD space.

Is Onimusha Way of the Sword on PS4 or Xbox One?

No. The game is current-generation only, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC.

Which console runs Onimusha Way of the Sword best?

PS5 Pro, which keeps ray tracing on in performance mode and upscales with PSSR.

Is the Switch 2 version a full cartridge?

No, it's a Game-Key Card. The cartridge acts as a license and the game downloads to your console, so plan for storage space.

Final Words

The low PC floor makes this one of the easier Capcom launches to jump into on older hardware. An i5-8400 from 2017 with a GTX 1660 meets the minimum, provided the PC runs Windows 11 from an SSD.

Windows 11 is the line most likely to catch people out. Plenty of older rigs meet the GPU and CPU specs but still run Windows 10, and that's worth checking before anything else.

High-end PC stutter is the open question. Driver updates and DLSS rollbacks are player workarounds, and only a Capcom patch would settle it. Until one lands, PS5 Pro gives the best mix of image quality and frame rate, and Switch 2 is the pick for portable play.
