Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 PC Requirements and Performance

Will it run on your PC? Very likely, as the Boltgun 2 PC requirements are kind to older hardware. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 asks for a GTX 980 at minimum and a GTX 1650 for High quality at 1080p. The Boltgun 2 system requirements stop at 8 GB of RAM on both tiers.
For our full Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 review, we finished one campaign run and got through most of a second, and how cleanly the game ran fed into that verdict.
Below, you'll find the official specs in one table, how the game held up on our test rig, the Boltgun 2 Steam Deck status, and the Boltgun 2 settings worth touching before your first mission.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun PC Requirements Summary
Minimum: GTX 980, R9 Fury, or Arc A580 on the Low quality setting, targeting 1080p at 60 FPS.
Recommended: GTX 1650 or RX 570 on the High quality setting, targeting 1080p at 60 FPS.
On an RTX 4080 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D, we saw no crashes and no stuck enemies at launch.
Valve rates the game Steam Deck Verified, with all four compatibility checks passed.

Boltgun 2 Minimum And Recommended Specs

Official Boltgun 2 system requirements on Steam cover two tiers, and both aim for 1080p at 60 FPS. Minimum targets the Low quality setting, recommended the High one.
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
OS | Windows 10 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
CPU | Intel Core i5-8600K / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 | Intel Core i7-7700K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X |
GPU | GTX 980 (4 GB) / R9 Fury (4 GB) / Arc A580 | GTX 1650 (4 GB) / RX 570 (4 GB) |
RAM | 8 GB | 8 GB |
DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
Storage | 13 GB | 13 GB |
The CPU line looks odd. Steam pairs the recommended tier with an i7-7700K and a Ryzen 5 1500X, both older than the minimum i5-8600K and Ryzen 5 2600. We suspect a listing slip, so treat the minimum chips as your real floor.
Steam lists 4 GB of VRAM for each Nvidia and AMD card on the page. Intel's Arc A580 appears on the minimum line with no memory figure attached.
You'll also need a 64-bit copy of Windows 10 or 11 and DirectX 12 support. Both tiers ask for 13 GB of free storage.

How Boltgun 2 Runs On High-End PCs
Our review rig paired a GeForce RTX 4080 with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 64 GB of RAM. On the launch build, the game ran the whole way smoothly. A single run took us roughly ten hours. Across that run and most of a second one, we hit no crashes and found no enemies stuck in the scenery.
We aren't publishing FPS numbers here. Our sessions weren't recorded as controlled benchmarks, and neither the developer nor the publisher has shared figures beyond the 60 FPS targets on Steam.
The big Purge arena fights were the most demanding scenes for our eyes. With the chunky pixel look switched on, they turned visually busy, and long sessions tired us faster than the first game did.
Boltgun 2 On Steam Deck
Boltgun 2 is Steam Deck Verified. Valve's compatibility report for the Steam version of Boltgun 2 passes the game on all four checks. The developer announced the badge on its Steam Community hub before the October 14 launch.
Valve confirms the default controller setup works fully and the on-screen glyphs match the Deck's buttons. Interface text is legible on the small screen, and the default graphics configuration performs well.
Steam Deck HQ's hands-on testing reports frame rate dips in the most crowded fights. We haven't measured the Deck version ourselves and won't quote numbers until we do.
Settings Worth Changing First
Start with the pixel look. One option runs from chunky pixels to a cleaner, closer-to-modern image, and it changes how readable the screen is. Dial it back if big fights start to blur together. Difficulty comes next, with four levels to pick from. Armor, ammo, and healing pickups have separate settings of their own, so you can tune them apart from the main difficulty.
Steam's spec notes mention only a Low and a High quality setting. Upscaler support and the full list of graphics options are still unconfirmed, and we won't guess at FSR or DLSS.
On a minimum-spec PC, start on Low at 1080p, since that's the exact Steam target for that tier. Try High once you've seen how your card handles a crowded Purge.

Final Words
Boltgun 2 asks very little of a PC. A 4 GB graphics card from several generations back and 8 GB of RAM cover both tiers, which keeps older rigs in play. Readability is the bigger worry. The full pixel look in a crowded Purge was harder on our eyes than anything the frame rate did, so set that option before you touch the graphics quality.
Steam's CPU listing contradicts itself, and nobody has confirmed upscaler support yet.
The Switch 2 version is still to come, with no date yet. On PC and Steam Deck, the specs are low enough that most players can install it and start shooting.
