Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Weapons Guide and Parry Tips

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse gives Rose Belmont seven weapon families, and the Belmont's Curse weapons you carry through Paris decide how every fight plays out. Each family holds four weapons, and a timed Belmont's Curse parry shows up early enough to change how you read bosses.
We covered the full run in our Castlevania: Belmont's Curse review. Below, you'll find what each weapon type does, how the holy shield works, and how the whip and Relics fit around your pick.
Only a handful of the 28 weapons have public names, and no guide we checked lists where all of them sit. That makes any Belmont's Curse best weapon ranking guesswork, so this page suggests what to try first for your playstyle.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Weapons Guide Summary
28 Belmont's Curse weapons split across seven types, four in each.
The whip deals full damage only at the tip, and the longsword rewards a backdash.
The Belmont's Curse parry is Holy Light, earned by beating Joan of Arc, the second boss, and mapped to its own trigger, so you can attack and parry together.
Rose equips three Belmont's Curse Relics at once, and trap gauntlets reward them.
Pick by playstyle: gauntlets for pressure, spear or whip for spacing, longsword for dodgers.
All Seven Belmont's Curse Weapon Types

The official PlayStation page for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse confirms seven weapon categories, and review coverage puts four weapons in each. Bosses drop some of them.
Type | How it plays | Known weapon |
|---|---|---|
Longsword | Extra damage out of a backdash | Not named yet |
Dual longswords | Move set not described yet | Not named yet |
Gauntlets | Short range, fast combos, damage climbs as hits land | Cestus Gauntlets |
Sword and shield | Move set not described yet | Not named yet |
Spear | Long reach, and it can be thrown as a projectile | Not named yet |
Greatsword | Move set not described yet | Not named yet |
Whip | Long reach, full damage only from the tip | Vampire Killer |
Joan of Arc drops the Burnt Sword of Fierbois, a slower, harder-hitting blade with a charge attack. Some reviews call the spear a lance.
Players who live up close should grab the Cestus Gauntlets, since longer combos pay out more. Spacing-minded players get the most from the spear's reach, or the whip's tip, and the longsword turns a dodging habit into damage.

How the Belmont's Curse Parry Works
The Belmont's Curse parry is a holy shield called Holy Light, and Rose earns it by beating Joan of Arc, the second boss. According to the PlayStation Blog hands-on, holding L2 lets Rose pass through Chaos Shards, and a perfectly timed press deflects enemy attacks.
The parry lives on its own trigger, the left one by default, with attacks on a face button. You can keep a combo rolling and parry in the same moment, which keeps aggressive weapons viable against bosses. In our run, the parry changed how we played more than any weapon did.
Busy screens are the weak spot. Readability slipped for us when four enemies fired at once, and overlapping attacks buried the parry tells. In crowded rooms, the dodge on Circle and its invincibility frames are the safer call.
The Whip Is a Movement Tool Too
Rose's whip is also her ride across the map. Beat the Fallen, the first boss, and the Arcana Whip grapple lands on R2. She can then grapple to enemies, swing from hooks across chasm,s and use flying enemies as platforms.
Steam reviewer NinJaRed wrote that the game changes feel completely once the Arcane Whip arrives, and compared swinging between rings to playing Spider-Man. He tells new players to push on until they get it, and we agree.
The grapple has a long wind-up that leaves Rose exposed, so clear a crowded room before you launch into it. The PlayStation Blog's preview build also had wall jumps but no double jump yet, so expect some ledges to stay out of reach early.
Belmont's Curse Relics and Building Around Your Weapon
Belmont's Curse Relics are passive items, and Rose can equip three at once. The PlayStation page says they trigger offensive and defensive effects. Trap gauntlets, long hazard rooms with a reward at the end, hand out Relics. Custom Mode cuts trap damage if one keeps sending you back.
Two Relics are confirmed in official material. The Crypt Key fully restores health and mana whenever Rose opens a chest, per the PlayStation Blog hands-on. Family's Grace comes with the Midnight Edition, and the PlayStation page doesn't describe its effect.
Our read for loadouts: close-range picks such as gauntlets put Rose in harm's way more often, which makes the Crypt Key a strong fit. Long-reach weapons can spend more slots on offense.

Final Words
Holy Light never shares a button with your attacks, so you can pick a weapon purely for how it hits and trust the parry with boss patterns. Long-combo weapons like the Cestus Gauntlets gain the most, since you never drop a string to defend.
Learn the whip's tip spacing early too. Fighting from range carries straight over to the spear.
Most of the 28 weapons still have no public names. Try two or three types before Joan of Arc, then lean on Holy Light against Medusa, the third boss, and see which weapon sticks.
