Genshin Chronicled Wish: Pity, 50/50 & Banner History

Chronicled Wish is a special event banner in Genshin Impact that brings back older 5-star characters and weapons from one region and lets players pick the one they want. Each pull, called a wish, costs one Intertwined Fate, a 5-star is guaranteed within 90 wishes, and losing the 50/50 once guarantees the chosen 5-star on the next one.
HoYoverse brings Chronicled Wish back from time to time, and each run centers on one region of Teyvat, from Mondstadt and Liyue to Fontaine and Natlan. Pity carries over from one Chronicled Wish to the next, but the 50/50 guarantee resets when each banner ends.
Genshin Chronicled Wish Summary
Chronicled Wish is a Genshin Impact event banner that mixes older 5-star characters and weapons from one region.
Wishes on the banner cost Intertwined Fates, the same currency used on limited character banners.
Before wishing, players pick one 5-star as their Designated Item through the Chronicled Path.
Losing the 50/50 gives a Fate Point, which guarantees the chosen 5-star on the next 5-star drop.
Pity of up to 90 wishes carries over to the next Chronicled Wish, but Fate Points reset when the banner ends.
Each Chronicled Wish in Genshin Impact centers on one region, and HoYoverse brings the banner back from time to time.
What Is Chronicled Wish in Genshin Impact

Wishes are Genshin Impact's gacha pulls, where players spend a currency for a random character or weapon. Chronicled Wish is an Event Wish that HoYoverse added in Version 4.5, and it is the only event banner type that holds both 5-star characters and 5-star weapons in one pool.
Every Chronicled Wish centers on one region of Teyvat. Its lineup mixes limited characters with standard 5-stars such as Jean, Diluc and Mona, plus a set of 5-star weapons, so players get another chance at units that haven't had their own banner in a long time.
Chronicled Wish doesn't run every version, and HoYoverse brings it back from time to time with its own event notice. Every wish on it costs one Intertwined Fate, which sells for 160 Primogems in the in-game shop, and players can collect free Primogems through quests, events and other activities.
Not every limited character qualifies for the banner. Since January 21, 2025, a limited 5-star must have appeared on a character event banner at least twice and not been featured in any recent Event Wish to join Chronicled Wish. Before that date, the rule asked for at least three earlier banners.
How Chronicled Wish Works in Genshin Impact
Every Chronicled Wish starts with one important choice. Before the first wish, players pick the 5-star character or weapon they want most, and the game calls this pick the Designated Item. Picking a character means every 5-star from the banner will be a character, and picking a weapon means every 5-star will be a weapon.
Pity is a counter that tracks how many wishes a player has made since their last 5-star. A 5-star is guaranteed by the 90th wish at the latest, and the counter goes back to zero after any 5-star drops. Smaller rewards follow the same idea, since every 10 wishes include at least one 4-star or better.
Getting a 5-star doesn't always mean getting the right one. Each 5-star has a 50% chance to be the Designated Item, which players call the 50/50. Losing it gives a different 5-star from the same banner, plus 1 Fate Point.
Fate Points work like a coupon for the next 5-star. Holding 1 Fate Point guarantees that the next 5-star is the Designated Item, with no coin flip, and the point is used up as soon as that item drops. In the worst case, getting the chosen 5-star takes 180 wishes, two full rounds of 90.
HoYoverse's own example uses Jean from the first Chronicled Wish. Anyone who picked Jean but pulled Eula instead would get 1 Fate Point, and their next 5-star from the banner would then be Jean.
Chronicled Wish Pity and What Carries Over
Not everything carries over when a Chronicled Wish ends. Pity carries over to the next Chronicled Wish, so a player who stops at 30 wishes starts the next one at 30, even months later. Chronicled Wish keeps its own counter, separate from the regular character banners, the weapon banner and the Standard Wish.
Fate Points don't carry over. Any unused Fate Point disappears when the banner ends or when the player switches to a different Designated Item, and the next 5-star goes back to a 50/50 chance. Players who lose the 50/50 should keep wishing before the banner closes, or the guarantee is gone.
HoYoverse's FAQ shows both rules in action. Anyone who loses the 50/50 to Klee, makes 10 more wishes without a 5-star and then stops would start the next Chronicled Wish 80 wishes away from a guaranteed 5-star, but back on a 50% chance for the new Designated Item.
Natlan Chronicled Wish in Version 7.2
Natlan Chronicled Wish was announced on October 23, 2026, during the Version 7.2 Special Program, and it arrives later in Genshin Impact Version 7.2. Five Natlan 5-star characters return on it, each paired with their signature weapon:
5-Star Character | Element | Signature Weapon |
|---|---|---|
Varesa | Electro | Vivid Notions |
Chasca | Anemo | Astral Vulture's Crimson Plumage |
Xilonen | Geo | Peak Patrol Song |
Mualani | Hydro | Surf's Up |
Kinich | Dendro | Fang of the Mountain King |
Because each Chronicled Path only drops one type of 5-star, picking Mualani means a lost 50/50 lands on another Natlan character from this lineup, never on a weapon. Players chasing a weapon such as Surf's Up have to set it as their Designated Item instead.
Under the eligibility rule, each of these characters already had at least two banners of their own, so this run mainly helps players who missed them the first time.
Who Should Pull on Chronicled Wish
Chronicled Wish makes the most sense for players who want one specific 5-star from the lineup. Standard characters like Jean, Diluc and Mona normally only drop at random from the Standard Wish, and Chronicled Wish lets players target them directly with a guarantee.
Weapon collectors get a similar chance on the same banner. Older signature weapons such as Hunter's Path and Beacon of the Reed Sea returned through Chronicled Wish, giving players another shot at gear for characters they already own.
Players without a clear target can skip it. Since only the Designated Item has a guarantee, random pulls mostly add pity on a banner that might not return for months, and saving Intertwined Fates for a new character usually pays off more. Anyone short on wishes can stock up by getting more wishes in Genshin Impact before the next Chronicled Wish starts.
Chronicled Wish Banner History
Seven Chronicled Wishes have been announced since the banner launched in 2024, and each one focused on a single region's characters:

5.3 | January 21 to February 11, 2025 | Liyue | Baizhu, Shenhe, Keqing, Ganyu, Qiqi, Tartaglia, Xiao |
5.6 | May 27 to June 17, 2025 | Inazuma | Kamisato Ayaka, Kamisato Ayato, Yoimiya, Chiori, Yae Miko, Arataki Itto, Sangonomiya Kokomi, Kaedehara Kazuha |
6.0 (Luna I) | September 10 to September 30, 2025 | Sumeru | Dehya, Alhaitham, Wanderer, Cyno, Nilou, Tighnari |
6.4 (Luna V) | February 25 to March 17, 2026 | Mondstadt | Eula, Mona, Albedo, Klee, Diluc, Jean |

7.2 | Later in Version 7.2 | Natlan | Varesa, Chasca, Xilonen, Mualani, Kinich |
Mondstadt Chronicled Wish is the only one that has run twice so far, with the same six characters both times. Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru and Fontaine Chronicled Wishes have each run once, and gaps between banners have ranged from about six weeks to more than nine months, so no fixed schedule exists for the next one. Upcoming event banners show up in the Genshin Impact banner schedule as soon as HoYoverse announces them.
FAQs About Genshin Chronicled Wish
Final Words
Chronicled Wish gives Genshin Impact players a way to target older 5-star characters and weapons from one region instead of waiting for each one to get a solo rerun. Its rules come down to a 90-wish pity that carries over and a single Fate Point that doesn't, so the best results come from picking one Designated Item and finishing the chase inside the same banner.
Pity is the safe part to build up, since it waits for the next Chronicled Wish even after the current banner closes. HoYoverse announces every new Chronicled Wish with its own event notice, so the lineup and dates are confirmed before the banner opens.
