Rockstar has GTA 6 dated for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, set in Vice City inside the state of Leonida. There's no PC date yet, and both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 reached PC long after their console launches.
Nintendo got there first. The Ocarina of Time remake arrives November 5 on Switch 2, backed by a 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console landing October 29. A June Direct teased it, and the 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8 showed it properly.

Two weeks is not much of a buffer. Nintendo gets a clear fortnight to sell before the internet turns to Vice City, which is the smartest scheduling call either publisher made this year.
What Each Game Puts on the Table
The Ocarina of Time remake is far more than a resolution bump. Link gets a manual jump button and a dash, the camera comes off its rails, motion aiming is optional, and cutscenes are voiced for the first time. Hyrule Castle Town becomes explorable rather than a backdrop, and the day-night cycle keeps running inside towns.
Nintendo also kept its hands off some things on purpose. Loading screens survive at the Deku Tree and Hyrule Field, a choice framed as protecting the original, and Z-targeting works as it did in 1998. You can hum ocarina melodies into the controller instead of tapping buttons.
GTA 6 is the opposite proposition. Rockstar's pitch is a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida, picked up by Jason and Lucia after an easy robbery goes wrong. The 26-minute preview Rockstar dropped pulled close to 10 million YouTube views in a day. These two games chase the same wallets without chasing the same taste.
Where the Metacritic War Actually Stands
Ocarina of Time still carries a 99 Metacritic score, a record that has held since 1998 and the reason anyone frames this as a title fight. Rockstar has come close more than once without clearing it, and so has every other studio.
Nobody outside the embargo knows where either game lands, and preview coverage has already started guessing. Our own read is that GTA 6 gets judged on what it does, and the remake gets measured against a memory with 28 years of growth behind it. Can a rebuild beat the legend it rebuilds? Rarely, and that is the remake's whole problem.
Sensor Tower estimated roughly 4.6 million pre-orders for GTA 6, and Newzoo projected $3.3 billion to $5.2 billion by the end of launch week. Nintendo's side is quieter and still enormous, with its own sales data putting Breath of the Wild on 34.06 million and Tears of the Kingdom on 22.71 million.

The scoreboard everyone is watching is the wrong one. GTA 6 will outsell the Zelda remake several times over and probably review higher, and neither fact settles anything. A new Rockstar open world and a rebuilt 28-year-old adventure were never facing the same jury.
Nintendo has the harder task. Rockstar has to make a great game, and it has spent a decade and an enormous budget preparing to. A remake of a game whose reputation is already perfect gives Nintendo no such room, since every addition reads as interference to somebody.
Our call is that Rockstar takes November on every commercial measure and Nintendo takes the win that matters, provided the remake lands with players who never touched the original. Watch the fourteen-day gap for the answer. If Nintendo's numbers hold through the week Vice City arrives, these two audiences overlap far less than the calendar panic suggested.
