Hellraiser: Revival Story, Pinhead's Bargain and Two Endings

Hellraiser: Revival Story, Pinhead's Bargain and Two Endings

The Hellraiser: Revival story starts with the worst kind of breakup: your girlfriend says yes to Pinhead, and you follow her into Hell. Saber Interactive built Hellraiser: Revival around that one bargain, with Doug Bradley back as the Cenobite leader and Clive Barker involved from the start.

In our Hellraiser: Revival review, we called Bradley's Pinhead the anchor of the whole story. He appears rarely, so every scene with him lands.

Below, you'll find who's who, which Cenobites show up, how the game ties into the films, and both Hellraiser: Revival endings, behind a spoiler warning.

Hellraiser: Revival Story Summary

  • The Hellraiser: Revival story follows Aidan Lynch, a biker gang enforcer, into Hell after his girlfriend Sunny accepts Pinhead's offer.

  • Doug Bradley returns as Pinhead, and Saber keeps him on screen sparingly.

  • The Scarlet Church, led by Marlowe, wants to manufacture Cenobites on Earth. Marlowe is the final boss.

  • The game borrows its mood from the 1987 and 1988 films but tells a new story, set about 20 years after the original.

  • There are two Hellraiser: Revival endings, and an autosave lets you see both from one run.

Who Aidan and Sunny Are and How It All Starts

Who Aidan and Sunny Are and How It All Starts

Aidan Lynch is an enforcer for a biker gang, and Sunny is his girlfriend. Saber's official store page spells the hero as Aidan. Some guides write Aiden, so expect both spellings in search results.

The couple finds the Genesis Configuration, the game's puzzle box, and their night with it summons the Cenobites. Pinhead offers to take Sunny to Hell, and she agrees.

Aidan goes after her. His goal is to pull Sunny out of the Labyrinth, so the Hellraiser: Revival story keeps switching between Clairport and the Cenobites' dimension. Our review pointed out that the script keeps asking whether he's doing it for Sunny or for himself, and his reasons get uglier the longer he explains them.

Hellraiser: Revival Pinhead and the Other Cenobites

Doug Bradley played Pinhead in the first eight films, from 1987 to 2005. According to the developers, he also helped the sound team rebuild Pinhead's voice effects, since nobody on the films had written down how they were made.

Pinhead makes the opening bargain, then mostly leaves the hunting to the rest of his order:

Cenobite

Role in the story

How much you see them

Pinhead

Leader, makes the bargain with Sunny

Sparing, at the big story beats

Chatterer

Eyeless hunter that teleports into your path and slams doors ahead of you

Three chases through the Labyrinth

Deepthroat

Makes Aidan an offer in the final scene

Her big moment is the ending

Butterball

Confirmed in the Cenobite lineup

No boss fight of his own

Our review rated the Chatterer chases among the tensest horror moments in years. Above all of them sits Leviathan, which Saber's own dev diary calls the ruler of the Labyrinth.

The Scarlet Church and Marlowe

The Scarlet Church is a cult devoted to the Cenobites, and it wants to manufacture Cenobites on Earth. Its leader, Marlowe, is a charismatic showman who runs things from under a Clairport nightclub. He ends up as the two-phase final boss.

Bruno, a sadistic artist whose house hides several puzzles, comes at you twice. The Sister of Mercy, a deformed cult member, takes the box from Aidan and later turns into a boss.

In our review, we found the human villains weaker than the Cenobites. Marlowe came across as a man in a costume next to the real thing, and the cult's other bosses gave better fights than he did.

How the Story Connects to the 1987 and 1988 Films

Executive producer Nenad Tomic wrote on Xbox Wire that the game takes its atmosphere, themes, and mythos from Hellraiser (1987) and Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988), with a plot not directly connected to either film. The developers have said it's set about 20 years after the original.

Barker created the Cenobites in his 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart and directed the first film. Saber says he was involved from the early stages, and Tomic credits him with input on the visual style, the lore, and the characters' personalities. Barker called it the first true Hellraiser game.

Need to see the films first? Not really. Fans will still spot the puzzle box and the Labyrinth carried straight over from those two movies.

Hellraiser: Revival Endings Explained

Hellraiser: Revival Endings Explained

Spoiler warning: this section covers the final scene.

After Aidan beats Marlowe, he learns that Sunny made her own bargain with the Cenobites and steered events from the start. She leaves with them. A gap in the wall stays open briefly, and Deepthroat offers Aidan a place in their order. The two Hellraiser: Revival endings come down to whether you take it:

  • Join the Cenobites: walk to Deepthroat and through the gap before it seals. She takes his tongue, and he turns into a Cenobite as memories of Sunny play out.

  • Stay human: stand still until the wall closes. Aidan stays behind with Zora, the vendor who runs the shops, and resolves to start over as the sun comes up.

Neither ending gives him Sunny back, and the human ending still leaves him maimed and branded. The game autosaves just before the wall starts closing, so you can reload and see the other ending without refighting Marlowe.

FAQs About Hellraiser: Revival Story

How long is the Hellraiser: Revival story?

Saber estimates 8–12 hours, depending on how you play. It's single-player only, with four difficulty settings topped by one called Hellraiser.

When did Hellraiser: Revival come out?

It launched on October 8, 2026, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. The physical Switch 2 edition follows on October 30, 2026.

Will Hellraiser: Revival get DLC?

Not according to Saber's support FAQ. Patches for launch issues are on the way, and there are no plans for DLC or content updates.

Is there a third Hellraiser: Revival ending?

No. The launch version has one final choice with two outcomes, and no hidden third ending has turned up.

Final Words

Once you know Sunny struck her own deal, her quick yes to Pinhead in the opening reads like a plan. Aidan spends hours treating her as someone to rescue, and the game lets that assumption run until the final scene.

The cult is the weak link. Marlowe gives the middle hours a villain to chase, but the moments that stick belong to Pinhead, the Chatterer and Deepthroat.

With no DLC planned, Cenobite Aidan's fate stays exactly where the credits leave it. If the human ending feels too clean, load the autosave and walk through the gap. The darker ending fits the films better.
