One player on a fishing trip away from Lowtown couldn't use the map to get home and had to find a shelter in the district they were already in.
Cameras watch fixed spots and drones move along the streets, so a path that was clear a moment ago can turn risky.
Where to Find a Nivalis Nights Shelter
Each district has one small emergency Nivalis Nights shelter. The game explains them poorly, and in our playthrough it took a few nights of dodging drones before we found the first one.
Players on Steam say pressing C during curfew pings shelters on your HUD, and that the doors look like a rentable apartment that isn't locked. Step in, use the bed, and you wake up the next day. Two spots they name sit near the market-area taxis and two doors from the hardware and furniture store by the Meridian Market bridge.
Your first curfew can switch your objective to Find a Shelter with a map marker. If you're already home when it fires, the objective disappears.
Boat owners have a third option. Fan guides say you can sleep on the motorboat's cabin bench and that the water has no cameras, though the studio hasn't documented this.
How CorpSec Fines and Nivalis Nights Sabotage Work
A camera sighting puts CorpSec on watch for the rest of the night, and you can still walk to a shelter afterward. The bill comes in the morning. Offenses such as trespassing on private property cost Lims the next day, and one player's next-morning report showed 50 Lims for trespassing.
Nivalis Nights sabotage is official. The Steam store page lists dodging security systems during curfew and sabotaging competitors as a feature, and warns that rivals can do the same to you.
We robbed rival restaurants in our playthrough, sneaking past camera beams to carry out chairs. Community reports say each pickup raises the CorpSec alert, which caps how much you can haul per night. The Steam achievement list also has Rat Whisperer, earned by helping Gladstone on a secret mission during curfew, and only 0.1% of players hold it so far.
Planning Your Day Around the Nivalis Nights Day-Night Cycle
Time runs quickly in Nivalis, and the Nivalis Nights day-night cycle has no speed setting. Players working from mod notes estimate a full day at about 24 real minutes, a figure ION LANDS hasn't confirmed. Fishing, boat trips and long quest chains can all drag you past 2 AM. Start them early.
Food is the hidden curfew cost, since an overstocked fridge can become a bin of spoiled ingredients by morning. Update #2 on October 2 made meals use older ingredients first. Update #3 on October 5 fixed rotten food not being cleared when large amounts piled up in regular and refrigerated storage.
So how much should you buy? Small amounts, often. Over-ordering before a busy day still cost us stock after both patches. Pick where your night ends before 1:30 AM too, and drop optional objectives once the broadcast plays.
