Star Wars: Galactic Racer Vehicle Classes and the Best Pick

Star Wars: Galactic Racer Vehicle Classes and the Best Pick

Star Wars: Galactic Racer vehicle classes decide how you take a corner and how much punishment you can soak up. Fuse Games built four repulsorcraft classes with distinct physics and playstyles: landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and podracers.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer launched on October 6, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In our Star Wars: Galactic Racer review, we started in a landspeeder and switched to the skim speeder by the second run. Below, you'll find how each craft handles and which one we'd pick at each stage.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer Vehicle Classes Summary

  • Four repulsorcraft classes: landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and podracers.

  • Landspeeders are the tanks of the track and the official pick for new pilots, built for stability and drifting.

  • Speeder bikes accelerate quickly and crash easily. Kinetic Burst adds a temporary burst of speed at the cost of control.

  • The skim speeder is new to Star Wars. It accelerates slowly, builds into the fastest speeder on the track (podracers aside), and corners with Knife Edge.

  • Podracers are the fastest class and give up safety and resilience for it.

  • Every class shares the Afterburner and the Ramjet, which can destroy your craft if it overheats.

  • Galactic Racer best class: landspeeder to learn, skim speeder once you can hold a line.

Every class shares the Afterburner, a short shot of speed, and the Ramjet, a held burn that fills a heat meter. Let it overheat, and the craft can blow apart. Let go earl,y and it needs a full recharge before you can fire it again, so every long straight turns into a gamble.

Abilities add shields that soak impacts and weapons such as ion shots and mines. We leaned on shield builds after a Jakku Eliminator where two rivals pinned us into the scenery.

Scrap spent at shops buys upgrades, and some of them carry over between runs. Cornering and Resilience are among the upgradable stats, so a bike can claw back a little of the durability it lacks.

Landspeeders and Skim Speeders Reward Clean Lines

Landspeeders are where the Galactic League starts you, and the official site calls them the tanks of the track. The official vehicle guide calls their handling ideal for getting started and says they're made for stability and drifting through corners. Fuse's developers say they can take significant damage without losing momentum.

The skim speeder is a brand-new craft, designed by Fuse Games with Lucasfilm Games. In the Star Wars lore, it was built for smuggling before Galactic League founder Darius Pax brought it to racing. The team compares its handling to a low-flying racing plane.

Acceleration is the price. In the Under the Hood with Hibi series, Fuse says the skim speeder builds momentum until it becomes the fastest speeder on the track. Knife Edge flips the craft on its side for a tighter arc and carries that momentum through most bends. Turn too sharply, though, and you still bleed speed that the Ramjet and Afterburner have to win back.

Durability sits between the bike and the landspeeder. Knife Edge is why we left the landspeeder behind in our review: it took the inside of Crait's hairpins where the landspeeder had to scrub speed.

Speeder Bikes and Podracers Trade Safety for Speed

Speeder bikes are the fast and fragile option. The official site describes them through quick acceleration and tight cornering, with a ride that's fast but risky. They give up armor for velocity and crash easily.

Kinetic Burst, the bike's signature move, pushes speed even higher, and StarWars.com warns it costs control and causes wide turns in unpracticed hands. In our runs, it also snapped the nose toward the next turn. Fuse describes bikes slowing into a corner to store energy and releasing it on the exit.

In Hibi's podracer episode, Fuse says podracers trade safety and resilience for exceptionally high speed and leave zero room for error. Tight turns need the airbrake, and the official guide notes that velocity drops dramatically when you use it.

You won't spend much campaign time in a pod. They appear in flashback races where you pilot Sebulba, and the online quick podracing playlist was the quickest way back into one we found.

FAQs About Star Wars: Galactic Racer Vehicle Classes

How many vehicle classes are in Star Wars: Galactic Racer?

There are four repulsorcraft classes: landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeder,s and podracers.

What is the Galactic Racer best class for beginners?

The landspeeder. It's the starting class, takes hits well and is built for stable drifting, which gives you room to learn each track.

Is the skim speeder new to Star Wars?

Yes. Fuse Games designed it with Lucasfilm Games for this release, and it debuts in Galactic Racer.

Can you play podracers in the campaign?

Only in specific flashback races, where you pilot Sebulba.

Final Words

The class you pick matters more in a roguelite than in a standard racer. One crash costs a position, but fail too many events, and the league bounces you back to the start of the run.

Our pick: learn the tracks in a landspeeder, then switch to the skim speeder once you can hold a racing line. Bikes reward players who already know every corner, and podracers work best as an occasional treat.

Fuse built a full class around podracers, yet the campaign keeps them in flashbacks. We haven't found any official word on whether post-launch updates will give pods a bigger role.
