Developed by Fuse Games, a studio founded in 2023 by former Criterion Games developers behind the Burnout series who had previously worked with Lucasfilm on vehicle combat for Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefront II, Star Wars: Galactic Racer releases on October 6, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Published by Secret Mode alongside Lucasfilm Games, it marks the first new Star Wars racing title since Racer Revenge in 2002 and serves as a spiritual successor to the classic podracing games, while introducing a distinct new setting and structure of its own.
Set in the New Republic Era following the fall of the Empire, the game follows Shade, a lone racer entering the unsanctioned Galactic League, an underground circuit fuelled by syndicate gambling and rivalries in the lawless Outer Rim, chasing revenge and recognition against League Champion Kestar Bool. Rather than an open world, Galactic Racer is built around track-based races with a runs-based, roguelite campaign structure, where vehicle choice, upgrades, and event selection all shape each attempt through the League. Players pilot multiple repulsorcraft classes, including landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and podracers, each with distinct handling and tactical strengths, across a mix of iconic and new Star Wars locations including Jakku, Tatooine, Ando Prime, Lantaana, and Sentinel I.
Combat racing is central to the experience, with slams, shunts, and takedowns encouraged alongside precision driving, and players can tackle the story-driven solo campaign or compete directly in PvP grudge matches.
