Pragmata Hacking Guide to Smarter Fights on the Moon

Pragmata hacking is how you beat the armor on the lunar station. In Pragmata, most bots shrug off Hugh's guns until Diana hacks them open, so nearly every fight runs through her grid. Learn the Pragmata hacking nodes and the grid stops feeling like a minigame and starts working as your main weapon.
In our Pragmata review, we called it the mechanic that makes every fight smarter. Capcom's game launched on April 17, 2026, and the Pragmata official site lists it on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Below, you'll find how the grid works, what each node color does, which yellow nodes to equip, and how hacking modes and Overdrive fit in.
Pragmata Hacking Guide Summary

Hold aim (L2/LT) on an enemy and steer the cursor with the face buttons to the green EXE node to open its armor.
Blue nodes add hack damage and extend the Open window, so route through as many as the situation allows.
Yellow nodes carry your equipped effects, such as Decode, Confuse and Multihack. Repeating one on the same enemy weakens its effect.
Red Error nodes cancel the hack and jam Diana, so route around them.
Pragmata hacking modes become available from Shelter level 2 and change the grid on enemies that are already Open. Only one fits at a time.
Overdrive Protocol arrives after the first boss. Click both sticks with a full gauge to open, damage and stun everything nearby.
How Does Pragmata Hacking Work?
You hold aim on a target and solve a small grid with the face buttons as Hugh keeps moving with the sticks. Reach the green EXE node and the enemy enters the Open state, with its armor down and weak points exposed.
Progress survives if you stop aiming mid-hack and return to the same target. A hit wipes it, so dodge out and come back instead of tanking a shot to finish a route.
Every grid offers a short path to EXE or a detour through bonus nodes. Against a single heavy, the detour pays. With three bots firing at you, go straight to EXE, and use lock-on (left stick) so a shuffling crowd doesn't break the hack.
Pragmata Hacking Nodes by Color

Node | Color | What it does |
|---|---|---|
EXE | Green | Completes the hack and opens the enemy |
Open | Blue | More hack damage and a longer Open window |
Hacking node | Yellow | Triggers an equipped effect from your loadout |
Critical Shot | Purple | Appears on low-health enemies, sets up a finisher |
Barrier | Gray | Blocks the cursor, forces a detour |
Error | Red | Cancels the hack and briefly jams Diana |
Blue nodes stack. Arrow icons lengthen the Open window and explosive icons add hack damage, so a route through two of them usually beats the quick dash to EXE when you have cover.
Red Error nodes are the expensive mistake. One touch boots Diana out of the hack and jams her for a moment, which costs the most when a swarm is closing in.
Purple nodes need the Critical Shot ability. Route through one and fire (R2/RT) to finish a weakened enemy outright.
Best Yellow Hacking Nodes to Equip
You earn yellow nodes through Shelter upgrades and exploration. Each one spends a charge when your route passes through it, and repeating the same node on one enemy brings diminishing returns. Equip a spread and rotate.
Node | Effect | Best use |
|---|---|---|
Decode | Extra damage to the hacked enemy | Any fight, available early |
Multihack | Links nearby enemies and opens them together | Groups |
Confuse | Enemies attack each other | Crowds you need to thin |
Freeze | Stuns or immobilizes targets | Repositioning, fast enemies |
Heat | Builds heat toward overheat | Heat-focused weapon builds |
Drain | Restores health through hacks | Rough patches, hard fights |
Multihack carries the effects of your other yellow nodes to every linked enemy, so pairing it with Confuse or Freeze turns one hack into crowd control for the room. It lowers damage on linked targets, and Decode covers that loss.
The set also includes Expose and Chain. A Steam Community tier list puts Multihack and Decode on top and Confuse above Freeze, and players report that Chain scales with the nodes you route through, which suits bigger boss grids.
Pragmata Hacking Modes and Overdrive Protocol
Pragmata hacking modes are chips that open up from Shelter level 2. They change the grid when you hack an enemy that's already Open, and the matrix turns yellow instead of white to show it. One mode can be equipped at a time.
Mode | What it changes |
|---|---|
Offense Mode | Blue nodes become offensive nodes that raise the next hack's damage |
Strike Mode | Blue nodes turn into strike nodes for more damage, and the armor closes after the hack |
Combust Mode | Blue nodes build heat for overheat kills |
Hybrid Mode and Boost Mode arrive at higher Shelter levels. Offense Mode is the safe first pick, and Combust Mode fits heavily armored enemies. In our review, swapping between Offense and Strike changed the boss fights more than any new gun.
Overdrive Protocol is the panic button, and it arrives after the first boss. Click both sticks once the gauge fills, and Diana's pulse opens, damages and stuns every nearby enemy. Successful hacks fill the gauge. A later auto-hack ability spends that charge to finish a grid, but it won't trigger limited yellow nodes such as Multihack and Confuse.
FAQs About Pragmata Hacking Guide

Final Words
The grid rewards patience more than speed. Our worst early fights came from greedy routes under fire, and the fix was simple: short paths when exposed, long paths behind cover. Once that habit forms, Pragmata hacking stops being something you do between shots.
Diminishing returns punish anyone who spams one favorite yellow node, so build a rotation of three or four effects and match it to the room. Bosses are the place to test Strike and Combust against your usual Offense setup.
Watch the Overdrive gauge above everything else. Holding a full bar for the moment a swarm corners Hugh saved more of our fights than any single node did.
