Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy PC Specs, Console Modes

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy PC Specs, Console Modes

The Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy PC specs are modest for a game this pretty. Asobo Studio set it on a sunlit Mediterranean island full of Minoan palaces and spore-lit caves, and the minimum tier asks for only a GTX 1060. Good Resonance performance on console depends more on which box you own.

Our Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy review gave the visuals and audio one section. Here we go further into the art, the score, the PC requirements, the crash fix that worked for us, and every console mode.

Resonance PC Specs, Console Modes Summary

  • Visuals: sun-bleached palaces, bone-filled caves and underground passages lit by glowing spores make Minotaur's Island the best-looking setting in the series.

  • Resonance soundtrack: Olivier Derivière builds the score on traditional instruments and a choir of 20 Greek Cypriot singers, with Anna Demetriou voicing Sophia.

  • PC specs: minimum GTX 1060 / RX 5500 XT for 30 FPS at 1080p Low, recommended RTX 3060 Ti / RX 6700 XT for 60 FPS at 1080p Ultra, with 16 GB RAM and 75 GB on an SSD at both tiers.

  • Resonance crash fix: a 60 FPS cap stopped the black-screen crash we hit, and Steam players suggest the same cap.

  • Resonance console modes: PS5 and Series X get 30 and 60 FPS, Series S gets 30 and 40 FPS.

Minoan Palaces and Spore-Lit Caves Set the Look

Minotaur's Island is the best-looking setting the series has had. Bright Mediterranean water sits right next to bone-filled caves, sun-bleached palaces, and grand Minoan halls. Underground, glowing spores light the passages Sophia has to cross.

The island is Crete, and the story moves between the medieval period and flashbacks to the ancient Minoan era, with the Minotaur and Ariadne myth at its center. Asobo renders all of it on Zouna, its in-house engine.

Faces do a lot of the storytelling. Wet eyes and small expressions sell quiet moments without a line of dialogue. We took more screenshots on this island than in either earlier game.

Olivier Derivière scored Innocence and Requiem, and he writes the Resonance soundtrack too. He has said the Crete setting called for a new musical approach. The score moves away from the medieval horror sound of the earlier games, using traditional instruments such as the yaylı tambur and rebab spike fiddles.

The voices are the standout. Derivière recorded the Amalgamation Choir, 20 female Greek Cypriot vocalists led by Vasiliki Anastasiou, singing lyrics he wrote in French and had translated into Cypriot Greek. Hearing them over the ruins does more for the island than any cutscene.

Anna Demetriou voices Sophia, the role she also played in Requiem. Her Sophia here is younger, angrier, and quicker to lash out than the captain from that game, and her temper cracks in the quiet scenes with Faro.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy PC Specs and Crash Fix

The Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Steam page lists two tiers, both on 64-bit Windows 10/11 with DirectX 12. An SSD is required for each.

Minimum (30 FPS, 1080p Low)

Recommended (60 FPS, 1080p Ultra)

RTX 3060 Ti / RX 6700 XT (8 GB)

CPU

Core i3-12100 / Ryzen 3 3100

Core i5-12400F / Ryzen 5 5600X

Our mid-range build ran the game smoothly at 1440p. Two small bugs, a companion frozen mid-fight and Sophia stuck mid-animation, cleared with a checkpoint reload.

Crashes are the real PC problem. We hit one black-screen crash during a long session, and capping the frame rate at 60 FPS kept it from coming back. On the Steam forums, players report sudden crashes to desktop with no error message, high-end cards included, and the 60 FPS cap is among the workarounds they suggest.

Cap didn't help? Players also recommend forcing V-Sync in the Nvidia Control Panel, or deleting the ENGINESETTINGS file in the game's AppData folder so shaders rebuild.

Resonance Console Modes on PS5 and Xbox

PS5 and Series X both offer a 30 FPS quality mode and a 60 FPS performance mode, plus higher frame rate options on 120Hz displays. Series S tops out at 30 and 40 FPS, with no 60 option.

Console

Frame rate modes

Notes

PS5

30 FPS quality, 60 FPS performance

60 mode dips in heavy scenes

PS5 Pro

30, 40 and 60 FPS

PSSR upscaling option

Xbox Series X

30 FPS quality, 60 FPS performance

Most consistent frame rate on console

Xbox Series S

30 and 40 FPS

Cuts to shadows and draw distance

The base PS5 drops below 60 in fire-heavy sequences, so pick its 30 FPS mode if steadiness matters more to you. Digital Foundry found Series X ran tighter than both PlayStation models across its modes, the unlocked 120Hz setting included. On Series S, the 30 FPS mode is the safer bet, since 40 struggles when crowds and effects pile up.

Resonance is part of Xbox Game Pass, and the Xbox Store listing confirms Xbox Play Anywhere. A digital copy from the Xbox or Microsoft Store covers both Xbox and Windows PC, with shared cloud saves. Steam copies sit outside that program.

FAQs About Resonance

Does Resonance run at 60 FPS on Xbox Series S?

No. Series S offers 30 and 40 FPS modes, and the 30 FPS mode holds up better in busy scenes.

Does Resonance need an SSD on PC?

Yes. Both official spec tiers list 75 GB on an SSD as required, so a hard drive falls outside what Asobo supports.

Who voices Sophia in Resonance?

Anna Demetriou, who also voiced Sophia in A Plague Tale: Requiem.

Is Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on Game Pass?

Yes. It's in the Xbox Game Pass library and supports Xbox Play Anywhere for copies bought through the Xbox or Microsoft Store.

Final Words

Resonance performance holds up on far less hardware than its looks suggest. A GTX 1060 gets you in at 1080p Low, and a 3060 Ti covers 1080p Ultra at 60.

Stability is the weak spot on PC. If the screen goes black mid-session, set the 60 FPS cap before you try anything deeper.

On console, Series X is the cleanest way to play at 60, and Series S owners should stick to 30. Whichever version you choose, play it with good headphones. Derivière's score and that Cypriot choir carry as much of the island as the visuals do.
