Valheim Bosses in Order and How to Beat Every One
Valheim has eight bosses, and each one guards the next step of your world. Valheim bosses drop what the following biome asks for, so the Valheim boss order doubles as the progression path. Since the 1.0 release, the list ends with Kall Fimbulbringer in the Deep North.
We covered the boss ladder in our Valheim review as one reason the survival loop holds up. Below, you'll find every altar, summon cost, and a short plan for each fight.
Valheim Bosses Summary
Valheim boss order: Eikthyr, The Elder, Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth, The Queen, Fader, Kall Fimbulbringer.
Vegvisir runestones mark each altar on your map.
Hang a trophy at the Sacrificial Stones for that boss's Forsaken power, a timed buff.
Bring fire to The Elder, blunt to Bonemass, blunt or slash to Kall.
Pack poison resistance for Bonemass, frost for Moder and fire for Yagluth and Fader.
Kall Fimbulbringer grants no Forsaken power.
Valheim Boss Order and Summon Items
The Valheim boss order runs from the centre of the map outward. You can skip ahead in places, but each drop hands you the tool or material the next area demands.

A Forsaken power activates from the Sacrificial Stones in the starting area. You run one at a time, and it lasts about five minutes before recharging.
Touch a Vegvisir runestone and it marks the nearest altar. The Elder's sits in Burial Chambers, Bonemass's in the Sunken Crypts.
How to Beat the Early Valheim Bosses
1. Eikthyr
The Meadows stag is the easiest of the Valheim bosses. Offer 2 Deer Trophies at the altar the Vegvisir near spawn reveals. He swipes, stomps and fires lightning. His Hard Antlers craft the Antler Pickaxe for copper and tin.
How to beat: Block or dodge the antler swing, then land a few spear or bow hits as he recovers.
2. The Elder
This giant tree needs 3 Ancient Seeds from Greydwarf Brutes, Shamans or Burial Chambers. It fires homing vines and raises roots from the ground. The Swamp Key opens the Sunken Crypts and your first iron.
How to beat: Shoot Fire Arrows from a Finewood Bow and duck behind the altar's stone pillars when vines come.
3. Bonemass
Summon the Swamp boss with 10 Withered Bones from Sunken Crypts. He resists pierce and slash, and his poison cloud and skeletons do most of the damage. The Wishbone finds silver buried in the Mountains.
How to beat: Drink Poison Resistance Mead, swing an Iron Mace and clear skeletons before committing to a combo.
4. Moder
The Mountain dragon needs 3 Dragon Eggs from peak nests. Eggs can't pass through portals, so you carry them on foot. She bites, breathes frost and drops ice shards from the air. Dragon Tears open the Artisan Table.
How to beat: Stack frost resistance, fire Obsidian Arrows from a Draugr Fang and strafe sideways when she flies.
How to Beat the Late Game Valheim Bosses
5. Yagluth
A skeletal giant ringed by stone fingers in the Plains, summoned with 5 Fuling Totems from Fuling villages. He rains meteors, spreads ground fire and sweeps a beam. Deathsquitos make the trip there risky too.
How to beat: Drink Fire Resistance Barley Wine, stay close so meteors land behind you and circle the beam sideways.
6. The Queen
She waits in the Mistlands' Infested Citadel. Craft the Sealbreaker from 9 fragments found in Infested Mines to open the door. She hits fast, calls Seekers and staggers you with a scream.
How to beat: Kill Seeker Broods as they spawn to keep dodge room, in Carapace armour with a Mistwalker or an Eitr staff build.
7. Fader
An Ashlands dragon in a colosseum. Craft 3 Bells from 9 Bell Fragments out of Charred Fortresses and place them around the arena. He is immune to fire and spirit and halves pierce damage.
How to beat: Wear Flametal, carry Fire Resistance Barley Wine and Major Healing Mead, and step out of green markers before spikes erupt.
8. Kall Fimbulbringer
The final boss arrived with the Deep North in Valheim 1.0. Craft Intricate Keys from Bloodgold, open Mörkhalla dungeons and break the ice inside to start Jotun Invasions. Each yields one Malicious Blood, and three open the Prison at an Aesir Passage. He resists pierce, fire, frost and lightning.
How to beat: Swing blunt or slash weapons like the Thunderblood Sledge, wear heavy armour and kill the seven boss phantoms fast in phase two.
FAQs About Valheim Bosses
Final Words
Valheim bosses reward preparation over raw damage. Most fights hinge on one counter, a mead or a damage type, and stalled players usually skipped it.
From Yagluth onward, reaching the altar is often harder than the fight, so scout the biome before you summon.
Kall's health figures still vary between datamines. Check the official patch notes before a Deep North run, since balance changes are likely.
