How to Equip Kicks in Fortnite and What Shoes Cost

Fortnite shoes are a cosmetic type of their own, and Epic calls them Kicks. A pair swaps the footwear on your outfit for a real sneaker from brands such as Nike, Air Jordan, and adidas, or for one of Epic's own designs.

Kicks arrived in Fortnite on November 21, 2024, and they now sit in their own section of the Item Shop. Prices run from 600 to 1,000 V-Bucks, so the top pairs cost more than an 800 V-Bucks Uncommon outfit.

Here's what you need to know about Fortnite Kicks: what they cost, which outfits can wear them, and how to equip a pair.

Fortnite Kicks Summary

  • Fortnite Kicks launched on November 21, 2024, with Nike and Air Jordan pairs.

  • Most Kicks cost 600, 800, or 1,000 V-Bucks, and Epic's own character shoes sit at the low end.

  • adidas, Crocs, and Vans joined in 2025.

  • Nearly every outfit works with Kicks after a March 2025 update.

  • Kicks are purely cosmetic and don't work in LEGO Fortnite, Save the World or Rocket Racing.

  • Equip them from the Locker on any compatible outfit.

What Are Fortnite Kicks?

Fortnite Kicks are shoe cosmetics that replace the footwear on a compatible outfit. Epic's Kicks announcement introduced them as a new Locker slot, sold in a dedicated part of the Shop with fresh styles added regularly.

Drop 1 of the launch lineup brought the Nike Cortez Leather OG for 800 V-Bucks, the Air Foamposite One Galaxy and Shox R4 Comet Red for 1,000 V-Bucks each, and Epic's Chomp Stompers for 600 V-Bucks.

Four Air Jordans followed in Drop 2, including the Air Jordan 3 Retro Palomino at 800 V-Bucks and the Air Jordan 11 Black/Gym Red at 1,000 V-Bucks. Remix Pass owners also got the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Black Toe Reimagined.

Epic says Kicks give no competitive advantage, so they only change how your character looks.

adidas announced its first Kicks in February 2025: the adizero Aruku Red, the Campus 00s Grey and the Samba OG Black, at 800 V-Bucks each. Fortnite-themed Ultraboost 1.0 pairs, such as Peely and Battle Bus designs, followed in March at 1,000.

Crocs started with four clogs, including the Classic Clog White, and a Star Wars Crocs set with a Grogu pair appeared in May 2025. Epic's own Kicks, from Chomp Stompers to Wookiee Feet, usually cost 600 or 800 V-Bucks.

Kicks rotate like outfits, so a pair you missed can return later. Check the Item Shop reset time if you're waiting on a specific drop.

How to Equip Kicks in Fortnite

To equip Kicks, open your Locker, pick a compatible outfit, select the Kicks slot, and choose a pair. It works like the steps to change your Fortnite outfit, and the in-game filter shows which of your outfits can wear them.

About 500 outfits supported Kicks at launch. On March 25, 2025, Epic said all but a few outfits now work with them. Epic removed the Kicks Usability button from the Shop and now keeps a short list of the outfits that don't.

Kicks replace the shoes only on the outfit you equip them to, and Epic says they can't be swapped between outfits. They're unavailable in LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Save the World, and LEGO or Fall Guys islands.

Launch week also had a free Show 'Em Off emote built to show off your shoes, claimable in the Shop until December 1, 2024.

Are Fortnite Shoes Worth the V-Bucks?

Fortnite shoes are worth it if you wear the same few outfits often. A 1,000 V-Bucks pair changes with every compatible skin you own, which a single new outfit can't do.

The top pairs still cost more than an 800 V-Bucks Uncommon outfit, which is steep for shoes. The 600 V-Bucks Epic designs are the cheaper way to test the slot, and the 600 V-Bucks in a recent Fortnite starter pack covers exactly one pair.

Earnable pairs are rare: at launch, the Air Jordan 1 in the Remix Pass was the only Kicks you could get outside the Shop.

Topping up V-Bucks or redeeming a Fortnite gift card covers the next sneaker drop. Our guide on how to buy V-Bucks safely helps you avoid scams. Fortnite items lists other cosmetics you can grab now, and Fortnite accounts with launch-week Kicks already in the Locker skip the wait entirely.

FAQs About Fortnite Kicks

How much do Fortnite shoes cost?

Most Kicks cost 600, 800, or 1,000 V-Bucks. Licensed sneakers usually sit at 800 or 1,000, and Epic's own designs often cost 600.

When did Kicks come out in Fortnite?

Kicks launched on November 21, 2024, with Nike and Air Jordan pairs.

Why can't I equip Kicks on my outfit?

A small number of outfits still don't support Kicks. Use the Locker filter to see which of yours can wear them.

Do Kicks work in every Fortnite mode?

No. They don't work in LEGO Fortnite, Save the World, Rocket Racing, or LEGO and Fall Guys islands.

Final Words

Kicks turned shoes into a slot that touches almost every outfit you own, which gives a single pair more mileage than most cosmetics.

Nike, adidas, Crocs, and Vans all joined within five months of launch, which shows how fast real sneaker brands bought into the slot.

Before you buy a 1,000 V-Bucks pair, check that your favorite outfits support Kicks.
