Predator Fortnite Skin and How Players Earned It

The Predator Fortnite skin was the hidden hunter of Chapter 2 Season 5, and players had to track him down to earn him. Epic slipped the Yautja into the season months after launch, then made him a secret Battle Pass reward instead of a shop outfit.
That choice still shapes who owns him. The original Predator skin in Fortnite never went on sale. A brand-new Predator character, Dek, landed in the Item Shop in October 2026.
This page explains how players earned the original, the boss fight that came with it, the other Season 5 hunters, and whether the 2021 skin can return.
Predator Fortnite Skin Guide Summary
The Predator skin arrived in January 2021 with update v15.21, as a secret reward in the Chapter 2 Season 5 Battle Pass.
Battle Pass owners earned it by finishing the Jungle Hunter Quests.
The same update added a Predator boss at Stealthy Stronghold, who dropped the Mythic Predator's Cloaking Device.
Predator joined Kratos and Master Chief as one of the season's famous hunters, though both of them were Item Shop outfits.
The original skin has never returned, and Epic's 18-month rule doesn't cover Chapter 2 passes.
Dek from Predator: Badlands arrived in the Item Shop on October 28, 2026, as a separate outfit.
How Did Players Get the Predator Skin?
Players got Predator by finishing the Jungle Hunter Quests, a questline that only Battle Pass owners could complete. The skin and the quests arrived together in January 2021 with update v15.21, almost two months after Chapter 2 Season 5 began.
Epic treated him as the season's secret skin. He didn't sit on a numbered tier like the rest of the Battle Pass. The final step was beating the Predator himself, which TheGamer and GameSpot both describe as the moment the skin was yours.
TheGamer reported that the other Jungle Hunter Quests added more Predator items, including a pickaxe and an emote in which he removes his mask and roars.
Once Chapter 2 Season 5 ended, the quests disappeared with it. Owners kept the outfit, and nobody else had a way to earn it.
The Predator Boss and His Cloaking Device
Update v15.21 also turned Predator into a boss. He stalked Stealthy Stronghold, a jungle location on the Season 5 map, and he hunted players who wandered into his territory.
Beating him dropped the Predator's Cloaking Device, a Mythic item that let players turn nearly invisible for up to 30 seconds at a time, according to TheGamer. GameSpot and Sportskeeda covered the fight and the drop when the update went live.
The boss, the stronghold, and the Mythic all left with the season. None of them came back with later updates on the main island.
The Chapter 2 Season 5 Hunters
Chapter 2 Season 5 pulled hunters from other franchises into the island, and Predator was one of three famous names in that lineup. The same season opened the Street Fighter collab with Ryu and Chun-Li, which later brought in Cammy.
Predator

Predator was the only one of the three earned through the Battle Pass. That makes him the hardest of the trio to get today, and he now sits among other exclusive Fortnite skins for that reason.
Kratos

Kratos came first. PlayStation announced his Oathbreaker Set on December 3, 2020, and Epic sold him in the Item Shop. He hasn't been back since March 2021, so Kratos accounts are the usual route for players who missed him.
Master Chief

Master Chief followed on December 10, 2020, as another Item Shop outfit. Our guide to the Master Chief skin covers his bundle and the Matte Black style debate.
Can Predator Come Back to Fortnite?
The original Predator skin isn't expected back. It came only through the Chapter 2 Season 5 Battle Pass, and Epic hasn't sold it since.
According to Epic's support page on past Pass items, Pass items may return 18 or more months after their pass expires, but that policy starts with Chapter 5 Season 4. Older passes keep their exclusive status, the same as the passes that held Peter Griffin and Jules.
Dek

Predator fans did get something new. Dek, the young Yautja from the November 2025 film Predator: Badlands, arrived in the Item Shop on October 28, 2026, during Fortnitemares. Epic's Predator: Badlands Bundle pairs him with the Thia back bling.
Dek is a different outfit you buy with V-Bucks, and owning him doesn't add the 2021 skin to your Locker. Players who want the original Predator usually look at Fortnite accounts with Chapter 2 skins, and the collab now sits among the biggest Fortnite collabs from the horror side of the game, next to Ghost Face.
FAQs About Predator Fortnite Skin
Final Words
Predator showed how Epic used a mid-season update to keep a Battle Pass fresh. A secret skin, a boss, and a Mythic arrived together, two months after launch.
That timing kept its owner count small. Players had to own the pass and finish a full questline before the season ended in March 2021.
Dek gives newer players a Predator to wear, but the 2021 outfit stays with the players who earned it. Watch Epic's Pass policy if you're hoping for a change, since the current rule only looks forward.
