Star Wars: Galactic Racer PC Performance, Specs and Fixes

Star Wars: Galactic Racer PC performance is a pleasant surprise. Fuse Games built it on Unreal Engine 5, an engine with a rough PC reputation. The October 6, 2026 launch build still runs smoothly on modern hardware, and the Galactic Racer system requirements start low.

We tested the game for our Star Wars: Galactic Racer review on an RTX 4080 and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and it ran without a single crash across our sessions.

Below, you'll find the specs, real-world results, Star Wars: Galactic Racer DLSS support, and the workarounds for the launch bugs.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer PC Performance Summary

  • Minimum specs: RTX 2060, RX 5600 XT or Arc A580, 12 GB RAM, and 50 GB on an SSD. Recommended specs ask for an RTX 3060 Ti and 16 GB RAM.

  • Native 4K is doable: one reviewer reported well over 100 FPS on the Epic preset with DLAA.

  • DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction work on any RTX card. Dynamic Multi Frame Generation needs an RTX 50-series GPU.

  • Galactic Racer Steam Deck play sits around 30 FPS on the lowest settings.

  • Known issues include RTX 50 crashes with Frame Generation plus DLSS and an unresponsive system after switching apps in Fullscreen.

Galactic Racer System Requirements on PC

The Galactic Racer system requirements on the official Steam store page are friendly for a UE5 game with ray-traced lighting. Both tiers ask for 50 GB of storage, and both mark an SSD as required, so a hard drive install is off the table.

Running an older GTX card? The list starts at the RTX 2060, so GTX 10 and 16 series cards fall short. Neither tier lists a target resolution, and our estimate puts the minimum at 1080p with an upscaler and the recommended tier at 1440p on High.

Steam also lists Denuvo Anti-Tamper with a five-machine activation limit, so every new PC you play on counts toward the cap.

How Galactic Racer Runs on PC

On our RTX 4080 rig, the game held up in busy pack fights and stayed steady through crowded 12-player starts. We had no crashes across our sessions, and the official patch notes listed no patch at launch, so all of this reflects the launch build.

Analog Stick Gaming reported well over 100 FPS at native 4K on the Epic preset with DLAA. GamingOnLinux ran an RX 6800 XT at 1440p High with FSR Native AA and got a nearly static 60 FPS through Proton.

NVIDIA's Game Ready Driver 617.42 announcement confirms the Galactic Racer DLSS 4.5 lineup and says Ray Reconstruction further refines the hardware ray-traced Lumen lighting. Our crystal cave runs looked clean with it on.

Destructoid's RX 9060 XT tester saw stutter around cutscenes. GamingOnLinux hit large drops and one- to two-second freezes in early races, which it expects the shader cache to smooth out over time.

Galactic Racer Steam Deck, Known Issues and Fixes

Galactic Racer Steam Deck play works, but keep expectations low. GamingOnLinux mostly held 30 FPS on a Deck OLED at the lowest settings with FSR Balanced, with a soft image and 2–3 hours of battery.

Steam Deck HQ saw races in the 30–40 FPS range on the Low preset with FSR Performance. Lock the Deck to 30 for a steadier feel, and if the game seems to hang on the EOS overlay, press B to get back in.

The official Known Issues thread warns that RTX 50-series cards may crash with Frame Generation and DLSS together, so run one without the other if you hit crashes. Switching between apps in Fullscreen can make the monitor blink and the system unresponsive, so a windowed display mode is likely the safer pick for now.

Arc A580 owners should keep Resizable BAR switched on, since disabling it causes flickering and distorted images.

FAQs About Star Wars: Galactic Racer PC Performance

Can an RTX 2060 run Star Wars: Galactic Racer?

Yes. The RTX 2060 is the minimum Nvidia GPU on Steam. Pair it with DLSS Super Resolution and lower presets for a steady frame rate.

Does Star Wars: Galactic Racer need an SSD?

Yes. Both spec tiers on Steam mark an SSD as required, with 50 GB of free space.

Can you remap keyboard controls in Star Wars: Galactic Racer?

Not in the launch build. Our review found no keyboard remapping in the settings, so use a controller for now.

Is Star Wars: Galactic Racer Steam Deck Verified?

GamingOnLinux reports a Verified badge on the Steam listing. Expect around 30 FPS on the lowest settings with FSR, plus a softer image.

Final Words

Unreal Engine 5 baggage is lighter than expected here. The hitches testers saw cluster in early races and around cutscenes, and every desktop frame rate figure we found sits at 60 FPS or higher.

RTX 50-series owners have the most to gain and the most to lose. Dynamic Multi Frame Generation is exclusive to them, yet the official bug list flags crashes when Frame Generation runs alongside DLSS. Test it in one race before a long multiplayer session.

Nobody outside the studio knows when the first patch lands or whether it fixes the fullscreen bug and missing keyboard remapping. Check the Known Issues thread before you lock in your settings.
