How Roblox DevEx Turns Earned Robux Into Cash

Roblox DevEx, short for Developer Exchange, is Roblox's official program for turning earned Robux into real money, and any other Robux-for-cash deal breaks its rules. It pays creators for Robux earned from their own games and items, and creators earned more than $1.5 billion through it in 2025, according to Roblox's newsroom announcement.
The DevEx rate depends on when and how you earned your Robux, and a handful of account rules decide whether a request clears. This page explains who qualifies, what you get per Robux, and how to cash out Robux step by step.
Roblox DevEx Summary
Roblox DevEx swaps earned Robux for US dollars. Bought, gifted, or transferred Robux don't count.
You need to be 13 or older, hold 30,000 earned Robux, have a verified email, and stay in good standing.
The standard DevEx rate is $0.0038 per Robux, so 30,000 Robux pays $114.
Robux earned before September 5, 2025 pay the old $0.0035 rate and cash out before $0.0038 Robux.
Qualifying sales to age-verified US players aged 18+ pay $0.0054 per Robux since June 8, 2026.
Requests go through Creator Hub, Finances, Cash Out, once per calendar month.
Who Can Use Roblox DevEx?

Any creator aged 13 or older with at least 30,000 earned Robux can apply for Roblox DevEx. The official Developer Exchange page also asks for a verified email, a valid DevEx Portal account, and an account in good standing with Roblox's Terms of Use and Community Standards.
The portal handles taxes and payouts. US creators file a W-9 and everyone else a W-8, which you add in the DevEx Portal once your first request is approved. Use your legal name on every form, since a name mismatch is one of the most common reasons a cash-out stalls.
Roblox Premium isn't on the list. No current official page requires it, and Roblox Plus, which replaced Premium for new subscribers in April 2026, isn't required either. Roblox's DevEx page mentions ID verification only for name-mismatch cases.
Accounts that stay logged out for 2.5 years lose eligibility, and so do accounts tied to scams, account theft, or selling Robux for cash outside DevEx.
Current DevEx Rate and Which Robux Count
Roblox now pays three DevEx rates, and the one you get depends on when and where you earned the Robux.
Rate | USD per Robux | 30,000 Robux pays | Applies to |
|---|---|---|---|
Standard | $0.0038 | $114 | Robux earned on or after September 5, 2025 |
Old | $0.0035 | $105 | Robux earned before September 5, 2025 |
US 18+ | $0.0054 | $162 | Qualifying sales to age-verified US players aged 18+ |
Your old-rate balance cashes out first, one-time group payouts included, before anything pays at $0.0038. Roblox's 18+ rate page says requests prioritize 18+ rate Robux instead, and neither page explains how the two rules fit together.
The 18+ DevEx rate covers developer products, passes, subscriptions, and private servers bought by US players verified as 18+ through a facial age estimate or government ID. The game also has to use R15 avatars or qualifying custom characters for all active play, and any R6 option rules it out.
Sales of developer products, passes, subscriptions, private servers, avatar items, and Creator Store assets count, along with in-game ads and Creator Rewards, which replaced engagement-based Premium Payouts in July 2025. Robux you bought, got from gift cards or subscriptions, received in transfers, or made reselling items you didn't create never count. Community hits like Forsaken show the model in practice, with players spending Robux in the game and the developers earning from those sales.
How to Cash Out Robux Step by Step
Cash-outs start in the Creator Hub at create.roblox.com:
Open Finances in the left menu.
Click Cash Out in the top right corner.
Fill in the form with your legal name, enter the Robux amount, and accept the DevEx terms.
Click Cash Out at the bottom of the page to submit.
Roblox holds those Robux during review and refunds them right away if the request is declined. A sent request can't be canceled. If Roblox approves your first request, an email from Roblox links to the DevEx Portal, and you get one week to add a payment method and tax form before the request is declined.
You can complete one request per calendar month. First requests take about 10 business days and returning creators about 5, plus bank transfer time. Tipalti runs the portal and takes its own fee per payment, which varies by payout method, and Roblox adds no fee of its own.
Robux bought on GameBoost won't count toward a cash-out, though they're handy for testing your own passes and buying assets as you build. If a test server refuses to load, our breakdown of Roblox error codes explains what each number means.
FAQs About Roblox DevEx
Final Words
Got Robux from before September 2025 sitting in your balance? That backlog goes out at $0.0035 first, so the $0.0038 rate only shows up once it clears.
Roblox's US 18+ rate pays about 42% more per Robux than the standard one, yet it comes with strict game rules. We'd settle on R15-only avatars early for any new game, since changing a live game later is much harder.
The two official DevEx pages also disagree on payout order, and the DevEx Terms of Use still lists the old $0.0035 rate. Trust the Creator Hub DevEx page, and check the split on the cash-out screen before you submit.
