Enshrouded Biomes in Order, Springlands to Cinder's Cradle

The Enshrouded biomes follow a set path. Embervale has seven regions, from the green Springlands to the lava fields of Cinder's Cradle, and each one sits behind a higher Enshrouded Flame level. Show up too early and red fog drains your timer before you loot anything.
Enshrouded hit 1.0 on October 15, 2026, raising the cap to level 50 and opening a new region in the far north.
Our Enshrouded review calls Embervale a map that pays you back for every detour. This page covers the practical side: the regions in order, what each one holds, how the Enshrouded Shroud timer works, and how Ancient Spires connect it all.
Enshrouded Biomes Summary
Seven regions in order: Springlands, Revelwood, Nomad Highlands, Kindlewastes, Albaneve Summits, Veilwater Basin, and Cinder's Cradle.
Each Enshrouded Flame level adds one minute of Shroud time, from about 5 minutes at Flame 1 to 13 minutes at Flame 9.
Red Deadly Shroud drains your timer far faster until your Flame is high enough.
Cinder's Cradle needs Flame 10, which costs 16 rescued survivors and an item from the Crown of Sorrow quest.
Climb each region's Ancient Spire first for fast travel and a map of its Obelisks.
Enshrouded Biomes in Order

Region | Level | Flame | Key resources | Main threats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Springlands | 1–10 | 1–2 | Salt, Flintstone, resin | Scavengers, Vukah, weaker Fell |
Revelwood | 10–15 | 3 | Copper Ore, clay, hardwood | Fell Knights, Scavengers, wasps in Blackmire |
Nomad Highlands | 15–20 | 4 | Tin Ore, limestone, Fossilized Bone | Vukah, Shroud Stalkers, sabertooth tigers |
Kindlewastes | 20–30 | 5 | Iron Ore, sulfur, saffron | Draconian Vultures, scorpions, Sun Temple Fell |
Albaneve Summits | 30–40 | 6–8 | Silver Ore, obsidian, amethyst | Strong Fell, spiders, snow leopards |
Veilwater Basin | 35–45 | 8–9 | Gold Ore, aquamarine, mother-of-pearl | Drak lizardfolk, crabs, water reptiles |
Cinder's Cradle | Not published | 10 | New crafting materials | New 14-type enemy faction |
Your first five crafters wait in Ancient Vaults across the Springlands: Oswald Anders (Blacksmith), Balthazar (Alchemist), Athalan Skree (Hunter), Cade Hawthorn (Carpenter) and Emily Fray (Farmer). Each opens a crafting branch, so rescue them before you leave level 10 behind.
Revelwood hides Blackmire, a level 13–15 swamp with its own Ancient Spire, Snapjaws in the mud, and Valory the Bard to rescue. The Nomad Highlands Shroud got three extra save points in 1.0.
Kindlewastes splits at roughly level 25, with the south hitting harder than the north. Pack warm clothing before you climb Albaneve Summits.
Why treat the level column loosely? Keen doesn't publish these bands, so the figures come from community tracking.
How Does the Shroud Timer Work?
Stepping into the Shroud starts a countdown of about 5 minutes at Flame 1, and when it hits zero, the fog kills you. Every Flame level you strengthen adds a minute, reaching 13 minutes at Flame 9. Step back out and the timer refills.
Red Deadly Shroud drains time far faster than white fog. Each Flame upgrade also raises your Shroud Passage Level, and a red zone opens once that number is high enough.
Return Beacons sit inside the fog and keep your timer full for as long as you stand near one. Hourglass capsules restore time and, since 1.0, also drop from large Fell. Skills and the Alchemist's Shroud Survival Flasks raise your cap.
Shroud Roots grow deep in the fog, including at the bottom of Elixir Wells. Felling one grants a skill point to every Flameborn nearby, so bring friends.
What Does Cinder's Cradle Bring?
Cinder's Cradle is a two-level endgame region past the northern gates beyond Veilwater Basin, with 12 new Shroud Roots and a fresh faction of 14 enemy types. Lava and Ancient ruins fill the ground floor, floating islands hang above, and Keen's Enshrouded 1.0 changelog describes Shroud tendrils joining the two.
Getting in takes Flame 10. That upgrade asks for 16 survivors, Sparks, and the Broken Guard of the North Crown. You pick it up from the throne in the Cromville Throne Room during the Crown of Sorrow quest. The Ancient Gate sits between Cromville Hot Spring and Lake Luma.
A new survivor who knows Ancient recipes joins in 1.0 as well. Flame 11 is the last confirmed level, and it lets your Flame Altars push the Shroud back.
Keen gives no recommended level. Veilwater Basin tops out around 45, so we'd arrive near that mark and put an altar outside the gate.
Ancient Spires and Glider Routes
Each of the six original regions has an Ancient Spire, a vertical puzzle of traps, ledges, and climbing. Low Meadows and Blackmire get one each too. The flame at the top opens fast travel and reveals the area's Obelisks, which in turn mark its Shroud Roots and Flame Shrines.
Version 1.0 cut the Shroud Adhesive the glider needs and lets air streams push you in any direction. World settings now control updraft duration too.
Spires usually sit near the middle of their region, so climb one first and glide out from the top.
FAQs About Enshrouded Biomes
Final Words
Patience pays in Embervale. Red fog marks the edge of what your Flame can handle, and pushing past it costs more time than it saves.
Sixteen survivors stand between you and Cinder's Cradle, so every rescue you skip on the way north turns into a backtrack at Flame 10.
Keen hasn't confirmed anything past Flame 11, so the Cradle is the end of the road for now. Save your best food for the lava.
