The Elder Scrolls is Bethesda's flagship fantasy RPG series, set on the continent of Tamriel and built around freedom. There's no fixed class and no required path, and the world lets you become whoever you want, whether that's a warrior, a mage, a thief, or all three. The series began with The Elder Scrolls: Arena in 1994 and has grown through five numbered games, an MMO, and several spin-offs, with Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim each earning Game of the Year awards.
The Mainline Games
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (2002) sends you to the volcanic island of Vvardenfell as a freed prisoner, in a strange and original world that still has a devoted following. GameBoost carries the Game of the Year Edition, which includes the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2006) moves to Cyrodiil, where gates to the realm of Oblivion are opening across the land, and the Game of the Year Edition includes the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions, with a Deluxe version also available. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011) is the series' best-known entry. You play as the Dragonborn in the snowbound north, learning dragon shouts, joining factions, and exploring one of gaming's most modded worlds.
Oblivion Remastered
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, released in April 2025, rebuilds the 2006 classic in Unreal Engine 5 with new visuals and some modernised systems, developed by Virtuos together with Bethesda Game Studios. It's available in Standard and Deluxe Editions, and it's the easiest way to play Oblivion today.
Skyrim Editions
Skyrim has been released in several forms, and GameBoost carries them all. Skyrim Special Edition remasters the visuals and adds mod support. Skyrim Legendary Edition bundles the original game with its three expansions, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. Skyrim Anniversary Edition adds Creation Club content to the Special Edition, and Skyrim VR brings the game to virtual reality headsets. You'll also find the Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4 Game of the Year bundle for players who want two Bethesda RPGs in one purchase.
The Elder Scrolls Online
The Elder Scrolls Online, released in 2014 by ZeniMax Online Studios, is the series' MMO, set centuries before Skyrim. You explore Tamriel with other players, taking on quests, dungeons, and group content, and the game doesn't require a subscription. GameBoost carries the base game in Standard and Deluxe Editions, Tamriel Unlimited, and the chapter collections, including Morrowind, Elsweyr, Blackwood, High Isle, and Necrom, which expand the game into new regions of Tamriel.
Classic Spin-Offs
An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire (1997) is a first-person dungeon crawler set in a Daedric realm, and The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard (1998) is a third-person adventure set in Hammerfell. Both are older entries for players who want to explore the series' history.
