The Bat Dragon in Adopt Me: Origin, Design and Rarity

Adopt Me is a pet adoption and trading game on Roblox where players collect, raise, and trade hundreds of pets across different rarity tiers. Legendary pets sit at the top of that tier list, and among them, a small group of retired event pets hold the highest long-term value. The Bat Dragon is one of them.

Released on October 30, 2019, the Bat Dragon appeared during the second part of the Halloween Event alongside the Evil Unicorn. Players earned Candy by completing themed minigames, including ghost hunting in the Haunted House and digging in the Graveyard, then spent that currency at the Candy Trading Shop. At 180,000 Candy, it was the most expensive pet in the shop, which directly limited how many players could get one before the event closed in early November 2019. That high candy cost was roughly equivalent to 500 Robux at the event's exchange rate, though the Bat Dragon was never sold directly for Robux.

Visually, the Bat Dragon is immediately distinct. It has a light brown body, small orange horns, black bat-style wings with red inner detailing, beady black eyes, an orange nose, small fangs, and an orange-tipped black tail. Orange spikes run along its back and its underbelly is a lighter tan. The pet learns six tricks in order: Sit, Lay Down, Joy, Jump, Twirl Around, and Triple Flip. Most Bat Dragon accounts for sale include FR or NFR versions, since players who owned one during the event typically applied potions early on.

The Neon version glows deep orange across the wings and tail tip, with lighter orange on the horns, nose, and tail spikes. The Mega Neon version cycles through rainbow colors across those same areas. Creating a Neon requires four fully grown standard Bat Dragons merged together, and a Mega Neon requires four Neons, totaling 16 standard Bat Dragons, making the Mega Neon Bat Dragon the rarest dragon in Adopt Me.

Bat Dragon Variants, Trade Value and Market Position

The Bat Dragon sits alongside the Shadow Dragon and Frost Dragon Pet as one of the top three most valuable legendaries in the game. Unlike some pets from the 2019 Halloween Event that dropped off over time, the Bat Dragon held its position, partly because of its recognizable design and partly because of the price tag which was high enough to keep overall numbers low from the start.

Fly Ride versions carry more trade weight than standard ones, and Neon versions increase that value even further. The Mega Neon Bat Dragon stands in a category of its own, often considered the most prestigious single dragon trade in Adopt Me. Anyone who decides to buy a Bat Dragon account at that tier is getting something that took 16 individual Bat Dragons to build, a number that represents years of collection for most players.

Since 2019, Adopt Me has released several variants inspired by the original. The Strawberry Bat Dragon was available during the 2022 Winter Event for 1,000 Robux. The Fairy Bat Dragon followed during the Winter Festival 2024, on sale from December 6, 2024 to January 17, 2025, also for 1,000 Robux. These are separate pets with their own trade values and neither affects the original's position. The original Bat Dragon has never been rereleased and no official announcement suggests that will change.
