MW4 Operators: All 33 Characters and How to Get Them

MW4's launch roster contains 33 Operators, with access split between starting characters, gameplay rewards, edition content, and special entries. Five are available immediately. Another 17 have requirements across Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ, with Ju Kwon sitting at the end of Prestige Master progression.

Finding the character you want starts with checking the right requirement. The four DMZ rewards follow the separate rank track explained in our MW4 DMZ progression guide. Multiplayer challenges ask for specific player eliminations, and Campaign characters come from completing named missions.

Below is the full roster, grouped by how you get each Operator. Hunter Killer's purchase conditions and Ju Kwon's Level 1,000 target have their own sections.

MW4 Operators Summary

  • The 33-entry launch roster includes five immediately available Operators, 17 Campaign/DMZ/Multiplayer rewards, and Ju Kwon through Prestige Master.

  • Campaign provides eight characters through mission completion; DMZ provides four at Levels 4, 9, 15, and 19.

  • Five Multiplayer Operators require specific elimination challenges.

  • Eight roster entries belong to the Vault Edition's two Operator packs.

  • Hunter Killer appears in digital preorder information and the launch-day Vault Edition description. Check the contents of the edition you buy now.

  • Kyle comes through the Valor Pack. Ju Kwon requires Prestige Master Level 1,000.

How Do You Get Operators in MW4?

The roster uses several routes. Check a character's requirement before spending time on a mode that won't award them.

Which MW4 Operators Are Available Immediately?

You start with these five choices:

Operator

Requirement

Min-Hee

Available immediately

CTSFO

Available immediately

Mil-Sim KSK Arctic

Available immediately

UCTF

Available immediately

Army SF Airborne

Available immediately

Choose one you like and start playing. You don't need to finish a mission or reach one of the later reward levels for these entries.

If you're planning to collect more characters, pick a target from the next three sections. That gives you a concrete goal to work toward during your normal sessions.

All MW4 Campaign Operator Rewards

all mw4 campaign operator rewards

Eight Operators come from completing Campaign missions. The table lists the mission attached to each character, without story spoilers.

Operator

Mission to Complete

Cho

Mayhem

Dallas

Hired Gun

Luca

Traffic

Oh-Ji

Assassins

Kal

Defection

Dunn

Counter Attack

West

Losing Ground

Park

Decapitation

Our suggestion is to play through the Campaign normally if several of these characters interest you. Stop between sessions to check which rewards have appeared instead of trying to track every requirement from memory.

Already finished the story? Compare the mission attached to a missing character with your completion record. Start by confirming that the required mission registered before replaying unrelated chapters.

All MW4 DMZ Operator Rewards

Reece, Coffey, Simone, and Hector are tied to DMZ Player Level.

Operator

Required DMZ Player Level

Reece

4

Coffey

9

Simone

15

Hector

19

These levels belong to DMZ's own progression track. Use that rank when measuring your progress toward the four rewards.

For a practical collection goal, work toward the next threshold rather than treating all four as one long task. Reece is the first target, followed by Coffey, Simone, and Hector. Check the reward screen as you pass each level.

If you're considering MW4 DMZ leveling for one of these rewards, check that the listing targets DMZ Player Level and reaches the character's required rank.

Getting a character and developing an Active Duty Operator are separate parts of DMZ. The character requirement in this table doesn't describe the equipment, Dog Tag, or Traits attached to a particular deployment slot.

All MW4 Multiplayer Operator Challenges

all mw4 multiplayer operator challenges

Five characters require specific eliminations in Multiplayer. Here, Operator kills means enemy players; don't substitute AI eliminations from DMZ for these requirements.

Operator

Multiplayer Requirement

Blackwell

Get 3 Operator kills without dying, 10 times.

Jae

Eliminate 50 players using hipfire.

Velikan

Earn 15 player Double Kills or better.

Valen

Eliminate 20 players at longshot distance.

Zimo

Eliminate 50 players with headshots.

How to Approach These Challenges

For Blackwell, prioritize surviving the next fight. After two eliminations, avoid forcing a third through an unchecked doorway. Take a position that gives you a route back to cover and let a reasonable opportunity come to you.

For Jae, build your plan around close encounters. Choose routes where hipfire is a sensible shot. Running across an open lane to force a hipfire attempt usually creates more problems than it solves.

For Velikan, look for opponents arriving together. Busy objectives can provide opportunities, though rushing every defended point alone is a costly way to chase them. Reload and prepare before committing.

For Valen, keep the longshot notification in view. Use it to check whether your chosen sightline is producing the right kind of elimination. Change position if your kills aren't meeting the requirement.

For Zimo, practice placing your aim before the opponent appears. Pick a familiar route and concentrate on a controlled first shot. Avoid changing your entire setup after a single poor round.

Which Operators Come With MW4 Vault Edition?

The Vault Edition's two Operator packs account for eight entries in the roster.

The table describes the appearances included with the Vault Edition. It doesn't mean every character listed here has only a paid appearance.

SAS also has a gameplay route: its Watchtower skin comes through Prestige 3, with Watchtower Prime on the Classic track. The reported reward milestone is Level 50 within that Prestige. Those skins are separate from the Vault Edition appearance.

The Hostile Alliance pack also includes outfit variants for some characters. Treat those as appearances within the pack when comparing its contents with the eight roster entries above.

How Do You Get Hunter Killer in MW4?

Hunter Killer needs a careful distinction between the original preorder offer and current edition content.

The official roster and bonus-content support page list the Hunter Killer Operator Skin as a digital preorder reward. Eligible players received it through that purchase entitlement.

The October 23 launch-day announcement also includes Hunter Killer in its Vault Edition contents. If you're buying after release, read the current storefront's included-content list before choosing an edition for this skin.

A normal Player Level requirement or Multiplayer elimination challenge isn't listed for Hunter Killer in the official roster. Use the purchase conditions attached to your edition rather than assuming a later rank will award it.

How Do You Get Kyle and the Valor Pack?

The official roster lists Kyle through the Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack. The pack's current product description calls its character the Valor Operator, with a Relentless Operator Skin.

The pack released on October 23 and is available for MW4 Multiplayer and DMZ. Its Warzone content arrives with Season 1.

This is a separate pack purchase. Check its product page for the contents, price, and platform conditions before buying. Players eligible for the USAA military giveaway can also check that offer's requirements and remaining availability.

How Do You Get Ju Kwon in MW4?

Ju Kwon requires Prestige Master Level 1,000. That is a long-term player progression goal, far beyond the early character rewards.

The official pre-release roster left his condition classified. Post-launch roster guides and the Call of Duty Wiki list the Level 1,000 requirement. This refers to Prestige Master progression, separate from Weapon Prestige and DMZ Player Level.

If Ju Kwon is your eventual target, work through the earlier character rewards as you play. A full Campaign run, the four DMZ milestones, and the Multiplayer challenges give you smaller goals before that final Prestige Master target.

Don't treat reaching the ordinary level cap as the same achievement. Ju Kwon sits at the far end of the Prestige Master track.

Which Operators Should You Work Toward First?

Choose a character you want, then fit the task around the modes you enjoy. Our suggested approach is:

  • Playing the Campaign already? Follow its mission rewards rather than interrupting the story to chase a separate objective.

  • Spending most sessions in DMZ? Track the next character threshold on that mode's level screen.

  • Playing Multiplayer regularly? Pick one elimination challenge to concentrate on for a session, then check your progress.

  • Considering paid cosmetics? Confirm the exact character, outfit, and payment method before purchasing.

When comparing MW4 items, read the exact contents and delivery conditions of each listing. Check whether it includes the Operator or appearance you want before choosing an offer.

FAQs About MW4 Operators

How Many Operators Are in MW4?

The official launch roster has 33 entries. This count covers Operators, rather than every available outfit variant.

Which MW4 Operators Can You Get Without an Extra Purchase?

Five are available immediately. Campaign, DMZ, and Multiplayer challenges provide 17 more, and Ju Kwon is listed at Prestige Master Level 1,000. Some characters also have gameplay-earned appearances outside those groups: SAS has Watchtower skins through Prestige 3, separate from its Vault Edition appearance.

How Do You Get Ghost in MW4?

Ghost is included in the Vault Edition's Hostile Alliance Operator Pack.

How Do You Get Dallas in MW4?

Complete the Campaign mission Hired Gun.

What DMZ Level Gives You Hector?

Hector's requirement is DMZ Player Level 19.

Can You Assign a Different Operator to Each Multiplayer Class?

Yes. Open Create-a-Class and use the Operator selection at the top of a loadout to choose its character.

Final Words

Start with the character you actually want to play, then check the route attached to that entry. The roster spreads its rewards across several modes, so a little planning saves you from chasing progress that doesn't count toward your target.

For gameplay rewards, keep the next requirement manageable. Finish a Campaign mission, aim for the next DMZ threshold, or spend a Multiplayer session concentrating on one challenge. Check the result before moving on to another character.

For edition and store content, read the current purchase details instead of relying on an old preorder description. Hunter Killer needs that extra check, and Ju Kwon belongs on a much longer progression plan. Keeping those conditions separate makes the roster easier to work through, with a clear next target for the time you have available.
