What is Hookah in Valorant?

Hookah definition
Hookah definition

In Valorant, "Hookah" refers to a specific area on the Bind map. It's a small room located near the B-site, accessible from both the attacker and defender sides. Hookah is an elevated area that features windows or ledges players can jump down from to enter the B-site. Due to its strategic position and sightlines, it's a commonly contested spot, offering opportunities for holding or retaking the site, as well as for ambushing or setting up plays.

How to Close Hookah as Defenders?

Closing off Hookah as defenders in Valorant is crucial to control the B-site on the Bind map. Here are some strategies to do so effectively:

1. Use Abilities to Block Vision and Deny Entry:

  • Controllers like Brimstone, Viper, or Astra can block vision and discourage pushes into Hookah with smokes or walls.
  • Brimstone can place a smoke at the entrance of Hookah to prevent attackers from peeking.
  • Viper can use her Toxic Screen or Poison Cloud to block sightlines or deal damage over time if attackers attempt to push through.
  • Astra can place a star in Hookah to deploy a smoke or Gravity Well to delay pushes.

2. Aggressively Contest with Utility:

  • Raze is particularly effective in Hookah. She can use Boom Bot to scout and pressure attackers or throw her Paint Shells (grenade) to deal area damage, forcing attackers out or stopping a rush.
  • Sova or Fade can use their abilities like Recon Bolt or Haunt to gather intel and prevent attackers from hiding or setting up in Hookah.

3. Positioning and Crossfires:

  • Place a defender inside Hookah to catch attackers off-guard, with a teammate outside, ready to trade. Having someone hold from B Long can set up a deadly crossfire if attackers try to enter Hookah.
  • Consider playing from B Elbow or Back Site to watch the Hookah exit, making it difficult for attackers to safely jump out into B-site.

4. Utility to Delay and Stall:

  • Cypher can place Trapwires at the entrance to Hookah or where attackers would exit, slowing their movement and making them vulnerable to a peek.
  • Killjoy can place her Nanoswarms at key choke points, such as the Hookah entrance or drop-down area, forcing attackers to wait or take damage.

5. Aggressive Peek and Rotate:

  • Depending on your team's playstyle, pushing Hookah early with a flash or aggressive utility can surprise attackers. Agents like Skye or Breach can flash through the Hookah entrance and allow a teammate to peek or clear the area.
  • Once Hookah is secure or attackers are stalled, defenders can rotate to support B-site or other areas of the map.
