New Ruler Type:
Ascend as a mighty Giant King, ruling over mortals with unmatched power. Giant Kings possess unique terraforming abilities and can use the Item Forge right from the start of the game. Call upon ancient weapons to fight with you and unlock powerful runes to forge unique equipment. Choose from one of four mighty clans and transform the world around you: flatten peaks, raise mountains, mold lava, and freeze the land!
New Crystal Dwelling:
A towering structure that houses souls of the ancient Giants encased in crystalline matrices. Earn the favor of the Council Prolocutor, improve your relations, and access a unique shop offering exclusive skills, magical equipment and artifacts.
Landmark Regions:
New massive regions will appear in your realm that you can annex to your empire for economic benefits — magnificent waterfalls, the remains of ancient dragons, majestic underground monuments, and more are waiting for you to explore!

It's the sixth game in the Age of Wonders series overall, a franchise dating back to 1999, and Triumph's first return to the mainline fantasy setting in nearly a decade following the sci-fi spin-off Planetfall.
At the end of the previous game's Third Age, the warring Wizard Kings had been banished from the world of Athla to the Shadow Realm, only to become trapped and corrupted for centuries in the void between realms. Now, scheming Shadowborn have helped several of these ancient wizards escape their otherworldly imprisonment and return to Athla to establish themselves as gods over mortals. Players take on the role of an Ascended Champion, building a new home in the Valley of Wonders and either joining the Wizard Kings' rise to power or resisting their tyrannical rule using their own arcane knowledge.
Character and faction customization sits at the heart of the game's design, letting players combine bodily forms, societal traits, and arcane powers to build anything from a clan of cannibal halflings to mystic moon elves. Claiming Tomes of Magic evolves an empire's units and abilities over the course of a game, with rulers and followers changing both visually and mechanically as they gather power. A new narrative event system adds encounters, diplomacy, and reactive storytelling throughout a session, alongside optional story missions, though there's no traditional linear campaign with fixed missions. Realm creation options let players customize geography, climate, and rule modifiers for each new game, or generate a randomized realm to explore instead.
The Pantheon system lets rulers who complete a campaign ascend and carry new traits and powers into future sessions, with previous rulers potentially reappearing as rivals or allies in subsequent games. Online multiplayer supports both simultaneous and asynchronous play, and an optional Allied Victories setting rewards cooperative play by letting all direct allies share in a winner's victory.
