About Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is an action RPG developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It launched on November 10, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through Uplay and the Epic Games Store, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions arriving alongside those consoles. Set in 873 CE, the story follows Eivor, a Viking raider and clan leader who can be played as male or female, with the option to switch between the two at any time. Driven from Norway by endless conflict and dwindling resources, Eivor leads a clan of Norsemen across the North Sea to settle in England's fractured Saxon kingdoms. A framing story set in the present day follows Layla Hassan, an Assassin reliving Eivor's memories to find a way to save the world from a looming catastrophe.

Combat has been reworked with dual-wielding, letting players mix weapons freely, including pairing two shields together. The Hidden Blade returns as a usable combat tool. Eivor can build up a settlement with structures like barracks, a blacksmith, and a tattoo parlor, recruiting clan members and leading raids using a longship to gather resources. Political alliances, dialogue choices, and combat decisions all affect relationships with NPCs and the direction of the story, and not every conflict needs to end in violence, since some situations can be resolved diplomatically instead.

The game moves away from a traditional leveling system in favor of skill trees, with enemy difficulty tied to the skills a player has picked up rather than character level alone. Social stealth returns for the first time since the series' modern redesign, letting Eivor blend into crowds inside English settlements. Valhalla sold more copies in its first week than any other Assassin's Creed game, and the PC version was the most successful PC launch of any Ubisoft-published title at the time.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla holds a Metacritic score of 82 and is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Premium.
