About BALL x PIT

BALL x PIT is a roguelike developed by Kenny Sun and published by Devolver Digital. It was released on October 15, 2025, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version and mobile release following shortly after. Lead developer Kenny Sun cited Punball, a mobile Breakout-style game with roguelike elements, as the direct inspiration behind the project.

The game combines two distinct gameplay loops set in the ruins of Ballbylon. The action stage is an Arkanoid-inspired mode where players bounce balls against monsters to defeat them, collecting gems that level up their adventurer and offer choices between new balls, upgrades to existing balls, or passive items. Runs are split into segments, with early segments ending in mini-boss fights and the final stage culminating in a full boss encounter. Losing all health or completing a run sends the player back to the surface to work on their settlement.

The city-building stage uses gold, blueprints, and materials like wood and stone gathered during runs to construct and upgrade buildings, which bring in additional playable adventurers or improve the stats of every character from the start of the next run. Workers can be assigned to collect resources or advance construction automatically, letting the village grow between dives into the pit. Gears earned from boss fights unlock deeper levels of the pit with new monsters and tougher bosses.

The Shadow Update, released in April, added two more characters, eleven new balls, and a new building. The Naturalist Update is scheduled for July.
