About BeamNG.drive
BeamNG.drive is a sandbox vehicle simulation game developed and published by BeamNG GmbH, an independent studio based in Bremen, Germany. It has been available on Steam Early Access since May 29, 2015, and receives regular updates. A PlayStation 5 version is planned for the end of June 2026.
The game is built around a proprietary soft-body physics engine that simulates every component of a vehicle in real time. Chassis, suspension, bodywork, engine mounts, and individual parts all respond physically to forces rather than following scripted animations. The result is vehicle behavior and crash deformation that scale continuously with the forces involved, from a minor fender scrape to a high-speed collision that folds bodywork progressively around any obstacle.
The vehicle roster covers a wide range of types, including sedans, trucks, vans, buses, sports cars, and off-road vehicles, each with distinct handling characteristics and configurable parts. Over twenty maps are available, ranging from compact test environments and proving grounds to large open-world locations based on Italian countryside, American coastline, and various urban and industrial settings.
Game modes include Free Roam, where players drive and explore without restrictions. Scenarios provide structured challenges including races, pursuits, stunts, and precision driving tasks. Delivery missions task players with transporting cargo across maps within time and condition targets. Campaigns group scenarios into themed progression tracks.
Multiplayer is supported through both official integration and the widely used BeamMP mod. An integration with Automation: The Car Company Tycoon allows players to export custom-designed cars directly into BeamNG.drive as fully drivable vehicles.
