MW4 Battle Pass and BlackCell, Price and Rewards Explained

The MW4 Battle Pass goes live with Season 1, and that's when you'll have to decide between the regular pass and MW4 BlackCell. Neither one has an official price yet, so the numbers below come from the Vault Edition breakdown and from recent seasons.
Planning your MW4 CoD Points budget for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4? This page covers what each tier gives you, what it cost before, and whether BlackCell is worth it next to the Vault Edition.
MW4 Battle Pass and BlackCell Summary
MW4 Battle Pass: arrives with Season 1, which the October 14 roadmap puts on November 6. No official price yet.
BlackCell adds: 20 Tier Skips, 1,100 CoD Points right away, an exclusive Operator and Weapon Blueprint.
Past pricing: the Modern Warfare III pass cost 1,100 CoD Points, and BlackCell sold for $29.99 in Black Ops 7 Season 06.
Vault Edition: includes one season of BlackCell. Play before or during Season 1, and you get Season 1 BlackCell.
Our pick: Vault Edition if you haven't bought the game; the regular pass if you only want the rewards track.
What the MW4 Battle Pass Includes

The MW4 Battle Pass holds more than 100 rewards. Activision's editions breakdown lists weapons, Operator Skins, Blueprints, and CoD Points among them, and the Activision support page adds XP Tokens and other cosmetics.
Vault Edition owners get their BlackCell, Tier Skips, and CoD Points only once the Season 1 pass appears in-game, according to the editions footnote. The roadmap Call of Duty shared on X on October 14 puts MW4 Season 1 on November 6, as several outlets reported, and Activision's Season 1 blog hasn't confirmed it.
What can you earn before that? Events. The launch patch notes start the first Event on launch day, with Apex Attachments and camos among the rewards, and say Weekly Challenges won't be available in Season 1.
Past passes mixed free items with paid ones, like the three free weapons in the Modern Warfare III Season 1 pass. The MW4 split is still unpublished.

What MW4 BlackCell Adds
MW4 BlackCell is the top paid tier, and it sits on top of the full Battle Pass. According to the editions breakdown, it adds 20 Battle Pass Tier Skips and 1,100 CoD Points, both granted instantly, plus an exclusive Operator and Weapon Blueprint and BlackCell variants of select Battle Pass items.
There's no MW4 price on BlackCell yet. In Black Ops 7 Season 06, the BlackCell store page listed it at $29.99, with 1,100 CoD Points up front and up to 1,100 more earned back through the pass. That's how BlackCell has worked so far, and the MW4 price could differ.
Each BlackCell purchase has covered a single season, and the Vault Edition copy covers one MW4 season only.
How Many MW4 CoD Points You Need
For the regular pass, plan on about 1,100 CoD Points. Activision's Season 1 Battle Pass announcement for Modern Warfare III listed that price, and the MW4 number isn't public.
That pass let players earn back up to 1,400 CoD Points across 100 tiers. If MW4 keeps the pattern, a finished pass pays for the next one, but only if you clear every tier.
Starting from zero? You'll need MW4 CoD Points in your wallet to buy the pass on day one, and Activision Support says points only work on the platform where you bought them. Pick the right platform and top up through our CoD Points page before Season 1 goes live.
Want to skip the slow start? Our Call of Duty accounts come with progress already on them.
Is BlackCell Worth It Over the Vault Edition?
If you haven't bought MW4 yet, we'd take the Vault Edition as the route to BlackCell. It bundles one season of BlackCell with the Hostile Alliance and Special Forces Operator Packs and the Signature Weapon Collection.
The season you get depends on timing. Per the editions breakdown, playing before or during Season 1 gets you Season 1 BlackCell, and playing after Season 1 gets you the current season. The support page adds that anyone who buys after launch gets BlackCell at the start of the first new season after the purchase.
Own the Digital Standard Edition? Activision's support page lists a $30 suggested price for the Vault upgrade, and the 10% loyalty discount doesn't apply to it. Physical copies don't qualify. By the support page's rule, an upgrade bought before Season 1 starts should land Season 1 BlackCell.
Only after the rewards track? The regular Battle Pass covers it. BlackCell mostly buys you time and a few exclusive cosmetics.
FAQs About MW4 Battle Pass and BlackCell
Final Words
Activision has listed what the MW4 Battle Pass and BlackCell contain, but not what they cost. The Modern Warfare III Season 1 blog carried that year's pass price, so MW4's Season 1 post is the one to wait for.
I'd hold off on BlackCell until that price shows up. If it lands near the old $29.99 and you own the Digital Standard Edition, a $30 Vault upgrade bought before Season 1 starts should cover Season 1 BlackCell and add the Operator packs too.
With Weekly Challenges out for Season 1, the pass and Events will carry most of the early rewards. Clearing tiers early matters more if you're counting on earned CoD Points to fund the next pass.
