MW4 Season 1 Release Date, Maps and What to Expect

MW4 Season 1 starts on November 6, according to the official roadmap Call of Duty shared on X on October 14. That's two weeks after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23. Activision hasn't posted the Season 1 blog with the exact MW4 Season 1 release date and start time yet.
Season 1 also switches Warzone to its new version, adds the MW4 Zodiac map, and moves Hajin into Battle Royale. From that day, your camo grind counts in Warzone too.
This page covers the date, the new Warzone maps, BlackCell, and which parts of the MW4 roadmap are still guesswork.
MW 4 Season 1 Start Summary
Start date: November 6, per the October 14 roadmap. No official start time yet.
New Warzone maps: Zodiac, a Resurgence map built by Beenox with a train running through it, and Hajin in Battle Royale.
New Warzone: goes live with MW4 Season 1, and the shared camo track adds Warzone the same day.
Before Season 1: Shipment arrives October 27. The new Possession mode and the returning Infected mode land that same week for Halloween.
Weekly Challenges won't be available in Season 1.
Vault Edition owners get Season 1 BlackCell if they play before or during Season 1.
When Does MW4 Season 1 Start?
MW4 Season 1 starts on November 6, 2026, according to the content roadmap Call of Duty posted on X on October 14. We're relying on the outlets that covered the post, so treat the date as near-final until Activision's Season 1 blog confirms it.
Activision's launch patch notes give no date and only say some features wait for Season 1. We'll add the start time here once the Season 1 blog goes up. November 6 falls exactly two weeks after the October 23 launch. The same notes confirm the new Warzone stays offline until then, and pre-installing Warzone now gets you the current live version.
Should you hold off on leveling guns until Season 1? No. Camo progress is shared across modes, and what you earn in Multiplayer and DMZ this week stays on the track when Warzone joins it.

New Warzone Maps in MW4 Season 1

Season 1 brings two Warzone maps, per the official MW4 multiplayer reveal. Zodiac is a new Resurgence map that Beenox built, and a train runs through it.
Hajin is the other one. It's the DMZ map from Modern Warfare 4, and Activision is moving it into Battle Royale. Deploy into DMZ during launch week, and you'll know its streets early. Our MW4 maps guide covers the three Ground War maps set in and around Hajin.
Neither map has an official size or player count yet. The reveal mentions the train on Zodiac and little else, which leaves any pre-launch map leak unconfirmed.
Warzone becomes the third mode on the shared camo track once Season 1 starts. A gun you level in Multiplayer or DMZ before then already carries the camo progress you earned.
Season 1 Battle Pass and BlackCell
Season 1 brings the first Battle Pass for Modern Warfare 4. Its price and reward list aren't out, and our MW4 Battle Pass and BlackCell guide will track both.
Vault Edition owners already have one season of BlackCell. According to the editions breakdown, you get Season 1 BlackCell if you play before or during Season 1. It adds 20 tier skips, 1,100 CoD Points, an exclusive Operator and Weapon Blueprint, BlackCell variants of select Battle Pass items, and the full Season 1 Battle Pass with 100+ rewards.
Standard Edition players buy the full Battle Pass themselves, and past seasons sold it for CoD Points. Want it on day one? Top up through our CoD Points page before November 6, or pick up one of our Call of Duty accounts and skip the early grind.
What Else MW4 Season 1 Could Bring
Activision has confirmed one more Season 1 change: Weekly Challenges won't be available in Season 1, per the launch patch notes. The notes don't say whether they come back in later seasons.
Everything else here is expectation. New 6v6 maps often arrive with a season launch, but Activision hasn't named any for Modern Warfare 4. The launch maps announcement lists only Shipment on October 27, plus Possession and Infected for Halloween, ahead of Season 1.
Weapons follow the same pattern. Past seasons added guns, and no Season 1 weapon has been named for Modern Warfare 4.
Events are the one system with confirmed rules. The first Event starts on launch day, and Events now recur, giving anyone who misses a full track another shot at the top reward. Rewards include Apex Attachments, weapon camos, calling cards, and Operator skins.
FAQs About MW4 Season 1
Final Words
Season 1 hits Warzone players hardest. Zodiac and a Battle Royale Hajin give the shared camo track a third mode, and from November 6, every mode you queue feeds the same grind.
The start time is the open question. The roadmap gives a day, and Activision normally confirms the hour in its Season 1 blog.
Our read: spend the first two weeks leveling the guns you plan to take into Warzone. Weekly Challenges sit out Season 1, which puts more of your progress on Events and regular matches than usual.
