Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 opens Create-a-Class at Multiplayer Level 4, so your first custom MW4 class setup is only a few matches away. Best MW4 Loadout for SMG Rushers
The ISO Nightshade is the SMG to build first. It held S-tier through the beta, and Activision's launch patch notes say SMGs are now more efficient in close-to-mid-range fights.

Blood Rush earns its spot: with it equipped, the patch notes say a press of the sprint key triggers Tactical Sprint, with no extra sprint-out penalty. Battle Hardened negates most effects from tactical grenades like the Flash. At max level, try the Hunter Apex, which marks enemies and tracks movement behind cover at the cost of velocity and penetration. Crackdown and the STP-1 grip open early, and the barrel, laser, and TAC90 grip come later in the ISO's level track.
Best All-Round Assault Rifle Loadout
The M4 is the rifle I'd level first. The recoil stays forgiving, and it holds up well in mid-range fights.

Hardline pays off fast: the launch patch notes keep the UAV at 5 kills, or 4 with Hardline. Trip Wire covers a flank on Hardpoint, and it links with Trip Wires your squadmates place nearby. Max the M4 and the Hurricane Apex turns it into a high-velocity SMG-style build chambered in 5.7x28.

Best Long-Range and Sniper Loadout
The KG-7 Vulcan is the sniper to learn first. Only three attachments made our two-tracker cut, leaving two slots open.

Overkill has meant a second primary in past Call of Duty games, which covers you up close. Razor Wire briefly stops anyone who runs or slides into it, and forcing through costs them speed and health. The launch patch tuned flinch and damage on one-hit-kill weapons without publishing per-gun numbers.
How to Build Your Own MW4 Class
Each perk slot has six options in the launch patch notes, 18 in total. Perk 1 holds Quick Fix, Overkill, High Alert, Ghost, Resupply, and Kill Chain. Perk 2 holds Hardline, Blood Rush, Bomb Squad, Fast Hands, Ninja, and Birdseye. Perk 3 holds Lethal Reach, Combat Grid, Battle Hardened, Scavenger, Tracker, and Cold-Blooded.
The progression guide lists High Alert at level 8, Battle Hardened at level 12, and Cold-Blooded at level 36. Trip Wire opens at level 22, Smoke Wall at 29, and Razor Wire at 41. The MW4 multiplayer overview adds Gunny, which assembles close-range, balanced, or long-range builds from attachments you already own.
