Does MW4 Have Zombies?
Does MW4 have Zombies? Plenty of players are searching for it on launch day, and the answer won't please round-based fans. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 ships with a campaign and multiplayer, but it doesn't include MW4 Zombies.
That hits hardest if you came from Modern Warfare III's open-world MWZ or Black Ops 7's round-based maps. Infinity Ward built its third mode around extraction, and Activision hasn't announced any Zombies content for this game.
So no, MW4 does not have Zombies at launch. We'll cover what DMZ gives you instead, where Zombies still lives right now, and how likely a later return looks.
MW4 Zombies Summary

Is There a Modern Warfare 4 Zombies Mode at Launch?
No, MW4 has no Zombies mode at launch. The official Modern Warfare 4 page lists Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ, and Zombies appears nowhere on it.
Pre-order bonuses tell the same story: Campaign Early Access from October 16 and DMZ Early Access from October 20, with no Zombies preview.
We found no Activision or Infinity Ward post that mentions Zombies for MW4 at all. If you bought MW4 hoping for undead co-op, nothing in the game covers that loop today.
A DMZ squad clearing objectives in Hajin is the closest thing to co-op PvE. Extraction pressure and gear you can lose make it a very different loop from Zombies.
DMZ Takes the Third Mode Slot in MW4
DMZ fills the space Zombies would normally take. The MW4 DMZ page sets it in Hajin, an exclusion zone hit by radiation and a mass evacuation. The map includes the Fallout reactor, a Prison complex, the Hajin City ruins, and a Military Base. Some areas can only be reached by water.
You deploy solo or with a squad, take on Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, Side Ops, or high-value targets, and try to extract with what you recovered. Between runs, you return to the Forward Operating Base, with a 3D Printer crafting station, The Stash for storage, weapon purchasing, and bounty boards.
Progression is the part that will feel familiar to Zombies fans. Each Operator in your Active Duty roster keeps a persistent backpack, loadout, and progression, and Trait Points go into three Trait Trees. Our MW4 DMZ Progression guide covers the levels and Dog Tags.
The official page mentions radiation, hostile forces, and enemy factions, with no undead or infected enemies listed.
Where Can You Play Call of Duty Zombies Right Now?
Black Ops 7 is the newest Call of Duty with Zombies, and Black Ops 6 still has its maps too. Activision confirmed in its MW4 launch post that Game Pass Ultimate members keep access to Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6, and Modern Warfare III.
That keeps MWZ playable through the same subscription. MW4 itself won't join Game Pass until Holiday 2027, which we cover in MW4 on Game Pass.

Will Zombies Come to MW4 Later?
Nobody outside Activision knows, and Activision hasn't announced Zombies for any season. Until callofduty.com posts a reveal, treat every MW4 Zombies rumor as unconfirmed.
Neither Modern Warfare (2019) nor Modern Warfare II (2022) launched with Zombies. MWII added the first DMZ in its first season, and MW4 now ships with that mode from day one.
Modern Warfare III had MWZ at launch, but Sledgehammer Games led that game and Treyarch co-developed its Zombies mode. That says more about who builds Zombies than about the Modern Warfare name.
I'd be surprised to see a full Zombies mode mid-cycle from a studio that just rebuilt DMZ. A limited-time event is easier to picture, but that's speculation.

Could a Zombies event still show up in MW4? Possibly, and the official season roadmaps on the official website are where it would surface first.
