About Chained Together

Chained Together is a 3D platformer developed and published by Anegar Games, released on June 19, 2024, for PC via Steam. The game gained over 80,000 players in its first week and sold over two million copies within its first year. In 2026, UK-based publisher Secret Mode acquired the game and brought on a new development team to continue supporting it with future updates.

One to four players are physically chained together and must climb from the bottom of Hell to the summit, ascending through a series of distinct worlds that grow increasingly punishing as progress is made. The chain between players is fully physics-simulated, wrapping around platforms and reacting in real time to every movement. This means no player can simply sprint ahead, and a single poorly timed jump from one member can send the entire group falling. The tension between needing to move independently while being tied to others forms the entire creative foundation of the game.

Ten collectable Wings are scattered throughout the levels, functioning as recovery items that allow players to catch themselves after a fall before hitting the ground. Two difficulty modes shape how the run feels overall. Standard mode includes checkpoints, giving players a reasonable number of recovery points to avoid repeating too much ground. Lava Mode removes checkpoints and introduces a constantly rising floor of lava, pushing the group to keep climbing at all times. Lava Mode also ties into the game's leaderboards and Steam achievements, which are unavailable on the easier setting.

Solo play is fully supported for players who prefer the challenge without the coordination element. Local split-screen and online co-op for up to four players are both available, with Remote Play Together supported for players who want to bring in friends without requiring additional purchases.
