About CODE VEIN II

CODE VEIN II is a Soulslike action role-playing game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It was announced at Summer Game Fest in June 2025 and released on January 30, 2026, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Producer Keita Iizuka described it as "completely different" from the original 2019 game, retaining the series' anime aesthetic while set in a new world with an entirely original cast.

The story unfolds in a future where humanity and Revenants were nearly wiped out by a phenomenon called the Resurgence, which mutated living beings into monsters known as Horrors. After a hundred years of relative peace under a seal created by the Revenant leader Idris' sacrifice, the seal fails, and the Resurgence returns as an event called the Upheaval. Players control the Revenant Hunter, journeying across haunting post-apocalyptic locations including the flooded Sunken City, the Undead Forest, and the isolated MagMell Island, using time travel to intervene a hundred years in the past and alter the fates of key Revenant characters, uncovering hidden truths that could determine the fate of the future.

Combat carries over the series' signature blood-draining mechanic, letting players drain and acquire blood from enemies to unlock a wide range of skills, alongside a new build system for freely customizing weapons and abilities to suit different playstyles. New weapon types include Dual Swords and Rune Blades, alongside the Reaper Jail, equipping the Hunter with a scythe for sweeping attacks and counters. Formae, abilities born from connections with other characters, expand combat options further, with Bequeathed Formae letting players summon unique weapons like the devastating "Absolute Executioner" greatsword.

World design is significantly more open than the original game, featuring larger explorable areas and a motorcycle for faster traversal, alongside an expanded character creator for detailed customization of the protagonist. CODE VEIN II received mixed reviews from critics and holds Mixed user reviews on Steam.
